KD to Knicks was guaranteed by media from day one. Not only rumors but multiple media members and outlets called it a certainty. So who do you think they were going to blame when it fell through? Themselves or Knicks organization?
There were so many variables and reasons why KD didn't come to NYK but it's much easier to have talking heads yelling about Dolan and bad culture instead of looking at what actually happened.
Getting #3 pick together with NOP getting #1 automatically took us out of AD sweepstakes.
KD torn Achilles changed his plans (more uncomfortable going to Knicks by himself)
Kyrie choosing Rocnation and Nets changed KD's plans.
Then if you take all those variables out and just look at the teams, Nets are 2-3 years ahead of Knicks in the rebuild. So if you are a 31-32 year old star player looking to win a championship Nets make more sense.
But I guess it's sexier, gets more ratings and easier to attract audience by dumbing all this down and just calling it Knicks failure.
And then on top of that they add Porzingis trade being a disaster (which it wasn't), Knicks unable to attract any other max free agents (which we weren't even trying to), Knicks not getting Zion (which is a lottery and another media hype job) all in an attempt to get a viral video.
