People are going to gloss over this. STEM doesn't just mean programming and IT. Also just because your degree is in STEM, doesn't mean your job classification falls under that.
Facts. it encompasses a broad range of disciplines, including but not limited to:

1. **Science**: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, Earth Science, Environmental Science, etc.
2. **Technology**: Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, etc.
3. **Engineering**: Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, Aerospace, Environmental Engineering, etc.
4. **Mathematics**: Algebra, Calculus, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, etc.

Here a popular youtuber who was a former tech lead at Google and Facebook/Meta. To sum it up, he says the industry is oversaturated and Americans are fighting against super hungry immigrants fighting for a visa. He said it's a crazy rat race. Definitely try to go into big tech at a MAANG company if your heart is there, but also look into government contracting if MAANG doesn't work out. It's not as sexy but it is rewarding. If you are a citizen, you can hop on projects where citizenship is required and/or a clearance is needed. You literally are cutting out all of that foreign competition right there. You can eat really well and don't have to worry about the economy or layoffs if you can actually do the work.

P.S. The youtuber below can be real cynical. He just wants future developers/engineers to be prepared for the realities.

My background is Bachelors of Science Computer Engineering Technology with 12 years of software development/engineering in the workforce.

He knocked this out of the park in the first half, that's the way things are at the upper levels. The segue into bitcoin and selling his course though :russ:It's still hard for me to tell when he's fukking around or not.
Gov jobs being foreign talent proof is a great net

I've been one of the biggest advocates of for certs on here. I'm low key the reason there's a 6 cert forum on here because I said it so much trying to convince black people to get into the tech field since you don't need a degree and most certs only cost $2-300 to take.

I stopped talking about that shyt years ago because I realized a lot cats on here only wanted to complain instead of seizing opportunities that were staring them in the face. Thankfully a few nikkas on here listened and got outta the bullshyt poverty positions they were in to better their lives.

But once a nikka told me it was to much reading to make 20k/mo remotely, I turned these nikkas over to Jesus :hubie:
The only problem with certs is what can you realistically do part time, I feel like all certs will be to time consuming to try and do that and another full time gig

chemistry majors have been screaming for years that it was a bad degree
I lowkey wanted to become a chemist but I would’ve had to get a PhD and who knows how many positions available for “chemists”

Probably would have to grind it out at a university as a professor before you can do anything cool with that degree

Let's address the number 1 fukking problem: companies refusing to hire Americans bc they can save money hiring h1b visa foreigners :unimpressed:

Not sure why they didn't put that on the slides how bc we see it happening
This is why a gov job is the move, can’t trust this private corporations

I feel like Aerospace and the weapons industry is the move right now

Gov is the biggest employer for black people too
