This is why you watch the games, instead of looking at the box score. Irving could easily put up better averages if he dominated the ball more, but he doesn't, because he's trying to play within the offense as best as he possibly can. Someone like Harden handles the ball for 9.5 minutes per game, whereas Kyrie only handles it for 5.2 minutes per game.

These guys only care about #s and have no context

If you play in a motion offense, everybody should eat so you don't have to overly rely on one player

Kyrie is Boston's leader & best player...Boston has the best record in the league

Kyrie is the catalyst even though he doesn't have to dominate the ball

Any PG that plays in the league should know how to play off the ball the way Kyrie does

My top 5 mvp's as of right now:

1.Harden

2.Porzingis

3.Giannis

4.Lillard

5.Irving

Could have easily put Durant,Lebron,or KAT in the top 5

The problem with Kyrie winning mvp is that he's currently 17th(pts)..20th(asst)...21st(per)...I.Thomas was better across the boards. He finished 5th in the mvp race

Boston has multiple players playing at a high level because of B.Stevens offensive system.Kyrie dominating the basketball and putting up greater numbers would be detrimental to his teammates and go against B.Stevens team first approach. While other mvp candidates are surrounded by garbage/inconsistentcy...Horford,Brown,Tatum,etc...are all playing great basketball. And even if Kyrie did put up greater numbers, the fact remains that he's only 21st in "per"...I don't think any player has ever won a mvp with a per that low.

So a stat created by some white boy at espn 15-20 years ago is gonna determine the mvp?

This is why white people should not engage in discussion about basketball.

This isn't meant for your kind.

I've been black for the first 28 years of my life you a$$hole.....It's amazing.how when you disagree with some black people on this website they instantly assume that you're white,or a CAC,and resort to name calling,So fukking childish.

Boston won 50+ games without Kyrie last season.IT did what Kyrie is doing last season and finshed 5th in the mvp voting....Kyrie just went 4-13 against orlando and boston still won the game by 16 pts.

Oh,and BTW....I already know that "Swagnificent" is just one of your many aliases....Like really who the fukk creates multiple accounts. What an insecure individual you are.

You motherfukkers will be the first to discredit Duncan being over Kobe despite playing in one of the most motion heavy and pass happy offenses around.

I got the Celtics going 65-17 this year. #1 record in the NBA.

They'll face the OKC Thunder in the Finals and lose the series 4-1.

Theyre 9-2 because of schedule...Ill give them credit for road wins over orlando and Milwaukee.

They beat a bad Cavs team,Spurs without 2 starters and beat Hawks,Knicks,Sixers and a bummy OKC team...

Once they go out west there record will start balancing itself out, this team without Hayward aint winning anywhere near 65 games breh.

We discredit Duncan mainly cause Kobe beat him all the time in the playoffs. And the fact the Spurs without Duncan never missed a beat. Or even when he became older and a lesser player. While the second Kobe was no longer an MVP candidate player in 2013, the Lakers fell apart and into the lottery.

Wishful thinking. They are #1 in defensive efficiency.

When you play great defense, you give yourself a chance to win every night. Celtics will continue to roll.

The Lakers fell apart and into the lottery two different times on Kobe's watch.

The Lakers fell apart and into the lottery two different times on Kobe's watch.

He was injured both times. In 2004-05 he had plantar fasciitis for most of the season. Most guys sit out, he gutted it out. Then he finally hurt his ankle and missed a bunch of games. And then he rushed back when he wasn't fully healthy. 2004-05 was Kobe playing hurt.

The other time they became a lottery team was after the achilles injury in 2013 and he was never the same after that.

Only injuries can stop Kobe. Nothing else. When fully healthy he was leading scrubs like Kwame Brown and Smush Parker to the playoffs. And when you have him a decent player like Pau Gasol he was going to 3 straight finals and winning 2 chips.
