Never heard of him before this is amazing. Reminds me of a D'Angelo, J. Holiday & Lyfe hybrid.

A few more from him:

My theory is the art of songwriting has been lost in R&B. It is all about sounding cool and not writing and/or singing the best song possible.

Yep. There's also no true emotion in the tracks. nikkas think its corny to sing to women about love and expressing their feelings towards them. Now we got "These hoes ain't loyal."

dim the lights ft raheem devaughn is federal

You like Dwele too? He's dope as hell.

I will take the easy route and blame it on porn movies. Todays generation don't know how to make love to a woman, they just fukk. They can't listen to some smooth ish while thrusting like a fukking rabbit, it fukks up the rhythm. :yeshrug:I don't know man but I had to throw my 2 cents in.

From the more recent stuff Channel Orange still gets plays when I'm in it.

...4 or 5 tracks max if I'm not drunk

I know many may not care, but pop music has too. This morning on the Today show they were talking about some song that was really popular by some chick who looked like Kelly Osborne but I've never heard the song or seen the chick before. 10 years ago, we were just losing TRL which I had stopped watching by then. But still I listen to KISS FM & B96, the pop stations & most of the stuff they play idk who it's by...

Subway could sing, breh

I swear I recall reading something crazy about how great singers aren't completely wanted nowadays in mainstream b/c the fans can't sing like them in their car when they're singing along. And so the lesser talented(studio made) singers are preferred b/c they can be more easily mimicked.

I know I didnt just make that up.

And if you think about it, all these shows like The Voice, X-Factor, Idol,etc...these ppl can really sing once they get down the finalist, but yet despite their talent, very few of them blow up afterwards.

Good technical voices don't always make good sings, but also these days, people don't care about it that much anymore.

I just saw this James Brown Documentary and all I want to know is where are the live bands at?....nikkas need to learn how to play the drums, guitar, the saxophone, the trumpet, something....

We need to take it all the way back...

As long as the music sounds good, do people really care if it was made by musicians or by a computer program?

What is with all the autotuned vocals?????? Can't these people let their actual voices be heard without all the additional nonsense? That shyt is distracting as FUKK!!!!!

REAL singers don't need that bullshyt...............

Easiest way to blow up is to do what hasn't been done before. :yeshrug:

Dionne Warwick was the poppiest of pop divas. She would destroy any ho out today, pop hit to pop hit, just doing vocal warm ups. Nobody would be checking for her today because she's not half-white.

Had a talk with my older brother about old R&B and he kinda summed it up for me..The dynamics of a relationship from the courting, to the ups and downs in a committed relationship is something that does not resonate with teenagers and young adults because most have no clue what they are talking about at that age..hence the rap lyrics posing as R&B lyrics

I feel you, of these new school cats, I don'tdon't think I heard one is about being in love...not on some thug I'mma put it down shyt, just pure love. These singers are raunchier and more explicit than rappers, plus they can't sing

Then of course every "r&b" song is just a rap song in disguise - I heard a new neyo song and was feeling it, it was r&b, then of course he had an obligatory rap feature (juicy j)...the genre is struggling so hard right now

:wow: I don't even know if there was a real R&B love song to be a hit in the last 5, 6, 7 years.

@concise no, however, live music seems to be more organic, more authentic, less contrived. That could just be my perception of it, but all live music seems to touch my soul when coupled with more thoughtful lyrics....
