I see y'all saying the love, live elements, and songwriting is what's wrong...but it's deeper than that.

There is no feeling in it.

The R in R&B tells you that the rhythm is important.
The B in R&B tells you the feeling is important.

You don't have to make a serious, brooding, sappy song for it to be real R&B - you just have to
feel something, and put a rhythm to that feeling. It's gonna sound good if you can convey that feeling.

Like this.

From what I understand, Tony Toni Tone are coming out w/ an album this year.

bruh, some of these cats are old enough to make a real song. i look at these dudes like tee flii, ty dolla, even trey and breezy - cats put out the most shallow, hard on hoes, sexually explicit music. alicia keys, mary j b, r kelly, maxwell, d angelo...all of them had songs that ran the gamut of love, relationships, and so much more written under the age of 25, monica, tevin campbell, brandy, all had timeless songs (may have been written by others) in their teenage years. and we can go back to the 50's-80's and see the same pattern. this is truly a loveless generation, they're too concerned about instagram likes and keeping up appearances, i don't know how/when/why black love got bodied like it has, but it doesn't exist in music nor tv

My god, You are so stuck on your opinions.

Act like Trey has't released all of this a singles with his last two album cycles

:snoop:

I never found it cool when people got together and chimed in on how shytty new music is. I always thought it was wack. My father in-law, my parents etc always have some shyt to say whenever a record comes on.

I'm like I'm glad I can appreciate what yal used to vibe to AND some of the newer stuff out. The Hard on Hoes Movement has influenced shyt heavy when it comes to R&B but have we not had some bangers out of that as well?

Yal don't like any of Trey Songz, Miguel, Timberlake, Weeknd, Chris Brown, Ty Dolla $igns music? And I'm not sure how long yal even taking this shyt, I guess yal on the 90s kick, but I seem to think there has been plenty of solid/piff R&B albums released within the last 2 decades (2000s til now)

:dahell:

Its redundant right now, but I'm sure it'll change over time

These threads all prove the same thing.

Most of these so called R&B fans derive their opinions soley off of singles that are played on the radio.

Its the only reason they make the same complaints and have the same arguments that have been disproven time and time again.

Ayo...

That chit you like?

Ionlike it.

Now, what does that matter to you?

If you like how chit is going down, just STFU and bump your chit.
That doesn't make out opinions wrong, and it doesn't make make yours right.

I feel you, of these new school cats, I don't think I heard one song about being in love...not on some thug I'mma put it down shyt, just pure love. These singers are raunchier and more explicit than rappers, plus they can't sing

Then of course every "r&b" song is just a rap song in disguise - I heard a new neyo song and was feeling it, it was r&b, then of course he had an obligatory rap feature (juicy j)...the genre is struggling so hard right now

Labels keep trying to force and dictate the same tired formula. Instead of adapting or coming up with something new, they keep trying to force feed the same shyt and wonder why nothing is popping. I hope major label music continues to fail so that shyt will go back to being about having actual skills and creating good music and a unique lane for the musicians.

My post was not about what something likes.

It was refuting her idiotic claim that artist aren't putting out songs about love.

Labels play whatever is popular. They don't care what it actually sounds like.

Boyz to men just dropped a new album. Did anyone even care or listen to it? There was a thread about it that only got like 2 replies.

The fact of the matter is people much rather complain that appreciate the new music.

The problem is the majors control the radio stations due to their paying to play. If the radio djs and producers had the power to play whatever they wanted unlike the forced playlists of today, I think we'd see more shyt where you'd actually know B2M dropped a new jawn and their shyt would be played. My wife and sis in law went to their concert back in September in Chastain park in Atlanta. Said it was good (although they both said Wanye looked mad :flabbynsick: ) :laff:

:wow:

@CrimsonTider droppin' knowledge

:banderas:
Chris Brown first single was Fine China.

Instead of recognizing and appreciating that these dudes are still dropping Music about Love and able to drop songs like Loyal. They complain about Loyal and act like its the only type of music that is being done.

This is no different that hiphop heads holding up the 90s as the beacon of hiphop while downplaying everything in the new school to uphold their agenda.

Nobody would "rather complain" about anything - they'd rather have the thing they're complaining about rectified.
The fact of the matter is people would love to appreciate new music, if:

- it's good
- they know it's out

Case in point - I love Tony Toni Tone, and I had no idea they were supposed to drop an album this year until @DemureNatural mentioned it in here.
I had no idea Boyz II Men dropped a new album, either. Why is this type of information not being advertised?

Man, The people (internet still dictate whats popular and/or successful) You think Bobby Shurmda is all over radio with Hot nikka getting that fan fare from the internet.

The problem is hiphop is where the money is at. Loyal & NaNa is what get the 2 biggest R&B artist paid. I don't understand the point in complaining about those songs when those R&B artist are still dropping mostly R&B/Love/emotions/relationship oriented music.

The radio follows what gets popular on the internet not the other way around
