Yeah,no soul makes it have no appreciation or replayability

Nah, black folk abandoned that shyt years ago because they want that fast money in computerized music.
Remember that scene in Sister Act 2 where Dee from Moesha forbids Lauryn Hill from singing in the choir because there's no future in it?

Well 20 years later you don't even have to tell kids that. They already know there's no future in it, so nobody pursues the art of singing unless you're on Idol or the Voice, and you're all but guaranteed to fail doing those shows now.

:what:

If you're still looking for the regular forms of advertisement to be aware of good music you're doing it wrong. The internet changed everything. C'mon now...

Do artists want people (who buy albums) to know how to get to their chit? They better figure out how to advertise to us then...

...and if it didn't matter, why are labels still paying radio to play chit?

My point is those artists are usually on major labels. These radio stations aren't playing artists whose labels aint paying em. Fact.
It goes like this... the labels push the breadwinners, the known artists... yes everybody knows this.

But every so often there are songs/artists that blow up and get recognition... no payola is involved. That's how songs like Tuesday, I Don't Like, and Hot nikka get on the radio... people calling in requesting songs still matters breh. I know this because I have a friend that's been doing music for years now, whenever he talks to the stations they like, we have to play a certain number of mandated songs that they get from record companies/labels every hour or whatever, and after that they go off of call ins and listener requests.

That's why different areas have different local artists in rotation. In Chicago, you'll hear shyt from local artists that you will not hear in LA, or ATL or NYC. In LA you will hear LA artists that you will not here in CHI or NYC... You'll hear them in the city that they're from because people from there are calling in and requesting it... you won't hear them nationwide until they get a big enough buzz going.

Anybody still listening to the radio is consuming music wrong anyway.

I disagree, but this thread isn't about that.

These people are trying to claim that black people don't love each other anymore and that's why R&B doesn't sound the same. When the reason is music changed.

90s R&B sounds nothing like 80s R&B

Well Trey told you he'd rather do neo-soul, Marvin Gaye type of shyt but there's no money in it and he only does albums that cater to what his label or radio want. He told you this on his mixtapes. That's why his albums aren't that good. I'd like to think he's not the only one that feels that way.

The worst thing that happened to Trey was Gotta Make It didn't blow up.

Your age is showing breh

:flabbynsick:

If you don't want to hear nothing but bullshyt and what is being pushed, YOU have to seek out what you want to listen to. Follow the artists that you like listening to. Why do you need the labels advertising when the artists are all accessible and have they all can communicate with their fans directly now?

:dead:

Or you can just keep listening to the oldies station

:ld:

Trey's latest release isn't bad though... at least not to me.

I mean he did hop on that Hard on Hoes Movement hard with it but it's still decent to me

So how do I communicate with and follow the artists I like listening to?

And another reason why talent from overseas is killing the R&B game and the (black) American born kids are like :manny: when it comes to love expressed in slow singing.

I'm not on any of them chits, B. And i'm not gonna join 'em in the hopes of maybe
bumpin' into something decent every now and then.

...and that's alright. Point blank - I got plenty of good music to listen to, I just listen to that.
I do hear a new R&B song every once in a while - it ain't as good as the music i've already got.
It isn't a question of artists, it's the actual music being made.
R&B fell off.

I'm always dumping about half of his album cuts. The rest of it is really good. I still play Without A Woman all the time off Chapter V.

The Trey Songz transformation has always been funny to me.

He went from having Aretha Franklin on his songs and shyt to Wonder Woman and that whole Trey Day album so fast like he was Buff Bagwell joining the nWo
