I saw somewhere thst the franchise tag is $29 mil

Is that accurate?

If so that probably makes any trade more difficult and knocks his value down

I'm surprised its that low. Wasn't Kirk getting 26 milly 3 years ago from it?

We can only hope a team is desperate enough to want him and not go through bidding wars. Otherwise we are screwed when it comes to good trade compensation.

I think it’s $25 million if they franchise tag him.

And if the Eagles did that, I’d assume it’s only because they already have a team willing to trade for him. They don’t want to be on the hook for $25 million. So, worst case scenario here is that he walks and the Eagles get back $2 million.

Even if they let him go to free agency, I think I saw that the comp pick for a $20 mil deal is a 3rd round pick in 2020.

I'd be ok with that. Obviously prefer to get a pick for this year but it's still pretty good

The deadline to tag players is March 5th, so Howie has exactly one month to find a trade partner that offers what he wants + Foles is comfortable being traded to and signing with.

It's still a real longshot, because the team can't enter free agency with that $25m tag on the books, it completely stifles their flexibility. My guess is still that Nick ultimately leaves via FA and we simply get the comp 3rd in 2020.

Yea, the good thing about that is, the owners voted for compensatory pick trading in 2017. So if we get that 3rd, we can use it for more than just drafting at the end of the 3rd round.

I was really hoping for a splash in some form or fashion though. :mjcry:

Carson came out with this BS interview kinda admitting some of the stuff in article about him in the locker room was true.
with Foles leaving I'm telling you this can go bad for us if wentz don't get his ish together. Stephen A said today he talked to players on the team that had all the faith in Foles and would ride with either 1 .

at this stage I kinda wanna just trade Carson to a QB desperate franchise for a bunch of picks and keep Foles.

the players are 100% behind Foles.. and it's not like he's almost 40. he's still got at least 5 years in the tank being a pocket passer.. we can worry about the next franchise QB then..
