Black men focus too much on fashion imo

Focus on building together instead.

No other group of men focuses so much of their energy on fashion and materialism as we do.

The real question is why is it so uncommon for black men to work together towards a common goal and purpose. Asians do it. Mexicans do it. Arabs do it. Whites did it. Hyper individualism only works if you already got it like that. And last I check we're at the bottom and falling further and further behind. I doubt our "image" is the common demoninator. Putting on some silly shyt made by European fashion designers wont produce a fukking thing. You're just a member of racial group in steep deline in a $500 outfit.

Like I always say, these nikkas only focus on trivial shyt.

This is literally what I said in my post. The motivation of you dressing up will dictate if you dress up and know who you still are or dress up and think you’re something different.
So... porque no los dos? What are you even arguing? A c00n gon be a c00n regardless of what he's wearing. He would be just as much of a c00n in some j's.

Because the US Government at all levels isn’t interfering with their internal politic. As long as those groups get on the anti-Black train, they will be given a lane to rock with in the USA. That’s why we have Asian and LGBT protection executive orders in the first 100 days of the Biden administration but nothing for Black Americans who experience more hate than both groups combined.

You make valid points and its even more of a reason why we shouldn't be so concerned about fashion. We have far bigger fish to fry as a people. Wearing suits isn't going to cut it. We need to get our hands dirty, leave our pride at the door and work together.

Fashion isn't style. Wearing a few timeless interchangeable pieces isn't changing your wardrobe every year.

I buy pieces that last for years and once they wear out I buy something new. I can get a decade wear out of certain pairs of shoes and coats with proper care.

That's what this thread and op (and a lot of u in here) are implying lol

It was a discussion and trying to get people's opinions. People got too damn defensive. Ultimately wear what you want but I do get concerned that our image is hijacked.

Look at how we consider a sportsjacket corny. Very few people in here that are saying we should change our image are shytting on the man wearing sneakers daily. It's just a different perspective and questioning whether we should or shouldn't change our image for us.

Black marriage rate was 80%
The black men were more employed at a higher %.
And black home ownership was double what it is now
So this had nothing to do with shifts in the economy, factories getting outsourced, hyper Information age etc...instead it was the wool suits all along. Simpler times makes for simpler living

that is because blacks hired blacks. Blacks HAD business. Those are all gone and it had nothing to do with wearing a jacket :francis:

So all that declined cause nikkas took suits off?

Y'all nikkas really believe you have to fit some dress code to be treated as a human

All that shyt u listed are social problems caused by racism and inequality, not me rocking slides and Nike tech :dead:

Hey here is a gem. You should not have to be respectable to be treated with fairness or human decency

Since this is a thread on fashion, Iif you want some casual big faces, Invictastores is having a massive sale. I even saw a watch I got for 500 selling for 150 :mindblown:

Their watches can be a bit gaudy, but on a plain outfit it works well. Not for everyone i know. I've been building my own Invicta collection, mainly for going out on and being flashy :myman:

Just wanted to post something positive in a mostly negative thread

I’ve already explained it. Black men should not be dressing up in the hopes that they receive better or fair treatment as it is setting themselves up for a “nikka wake up call”. Black men should dress up for themselves and should do so based on their own sensibilities irrespective of White America. We have to dictate what’s acceptable, grown, sophisticated for ourselves...not emulate white people and hold that as the gold standard. Holding Chelsea boots and skinny jeans up as some kind of a lighthouse for sophistication is the machination of a colonized mindset.

That’s why I said we agree on us as Black people always elevating, I just don’t agree with KS framing it based on a response to White people. We can’t let white people dictate our movements in any capacity...
