Whats wrong with a button up,jeans and timbs? Everything lol. That shyt was laughable, that style was for nikkas who were struggling to make the transition from the streets to the fame:mjlol:.

Thats a perfect example right there, dudes were dressing like that believing they were on their grown man shyt. While the majority weren't doing any grown man work behind it. Point being black men don't need to worry about some mass image makeover. Black men need a mass THINKING makeover,a complete reprogramming of the way we were brainwashed to think by the European. I don't think black men wear things that demean our image as men in the first place. Now our women?thats a completely different story.

Does dressing young often symbolize someone has an immature way of thinking? Yes I do agree with that.
But dressing grown doesn't change the mindset. Focus on whats important which is changing the mindset, then more than likely you would see an indifference about appearance. People who are actually working on things they are passionate about, don't have time to focus on fashion choices.

The tough part about our situation is that we have to change our mind state to one where we are ready to die while everyone else in this country only has to be ready to succeed. When we fed our kids through the black panther free lunch program it was deemed the biggest threat to America by the FBI. Black people subconsciously know the stakes...we are in a life or death situation.

I think what makes me so irritated about this argument is I'm IN corporate America.
I hear stupid ass phrases like "Perception is everything" every time I roll into the office.

"Perception" can also be parsed down into "Yo. It doesn't matter WHAT you DO/WEAR, it's HOW you look to the RIGHT PEOPLE."

You wanna succeed in Corporate America ?

Kevin is only right or has a point if the person has the goal of being more professional/meeting professional women getting into a strong relationship...Not everyone wants what Kevin is talking about...What he says doesn't apply to everyone not everyone wants the same thing.

I dress up all the time but I don’t like this advice because why should I have to have a suit on to be treated like the average white man in flip flops and chino shorts? This is c00n shyt to deflect off of white supremacy. Do we have personal agency? Yes. Do I dress suited and booted? Yes. But I also realize that I’m just a nikka in a suit especially when I’m anywhere upscale.

This is what we have been brainwashed to think. Problem with black people in this country, is that we never take into account the "flee" option. Even Panafricanist usually idealize Africa, while still talking about fighting and improving our situation in America, meaning they likely ain't planning on going nowhere. Part of it is a matter of our pride, part of it is fear,as well as comfortability. If those things are stopping most black people from leaving, then that means most black people don't actually believe in white supremacy. Because pride, fear of cacs, and not being comfortable are all reasons you would leave this country if you truly believed in white supremacy. I'm telling you now,you are about to see the greatest era of black creation in your life time. Every black man needs to be thinking of ideas now for when it happens, once it is happening you will know. All I can tell you is that it won't happen in America,America will not be our mecca or home soon. If your dressing up for any reason, let it be Americas impending funeral

Some of the most successful men I know give no fukks about appeasing these people as far as dress goes.
:pachaha:
If it's a "Casual day", the "Casual attire" is definitely coming out.

:dead:
Mexicans coming in dressed up like straight Vato's and Brehs coming in with the corn rows, fitteds, jordans etc.
None of that shyt has stopped these dudes from earning six figures or damn near scrapping it.
You see it

Some dudes even have an issue with this aspect :francis:

yeah and I'll tell those dudes they're wrong.
Just like I've said elsewhere in this thread.
You can dressed be to the nines, well spoken, highly educated etc. but if you aren't in front of the
right people you might as well be in a potato sack, speaking gibberish with a 3rd grade education.

I'll readily admit that people should always work to have things in their favor but I also acknowledge that
there are certain impassable things in life and dressing well is not a way to get past those things.
It's taking the route AROUND, not THROUGH, yah know ?

The funniest thing about the video is that it really has nothing to do with clothing and image and really about mindset and thinking. However, simple minded nikkas unfortunately made it about clothes

The OP’s whole post is about clothes so of course this thread was gon be about clothes
:dwillhuh:

How is this not about clothes,

Is he right? Some of us were having a discussion in the Kevin Samuels discussion and he mentioned how black men frown upon the idea of wearing a sportsjacket or a suit now and how it affects.

He starts at 35:00

He's one of the types that says Black men shouldn't be rocking Jordans in their late 20s, 30s, and 40s. What do you think?

Timeless and classic without looking corny. Casual/Smart-Casual stuff.

eh even when I'm in sweats and a t shirt I'm dressed better than 99% of people so there isn't a concept of "dressing up or down" for me, you dress to the occasion.
