with each recent release its apparent lupe is a superior MC

like i said imagine if lupe wasnt a one band and had all the elites kdot has access too.
lupe is better at rapping then everybody. but he hasnt put together an album like this and i dont think he could either. kendrick has a couple attributes lupe doesnt that make this album shine

Finally got the cd yesterday. Just drove to work it sounds so much better. I was using an AUX cable, this is a big step up. For Free and You Ain't Gotta Lie are my favorite songs right now.

19 bucks? wtf?

Thats what everybody said when I posted it on FB. One of my friends, who never buys music, says I might as well have set a $20 bill on fire.

In actuality, since its the first week, the album is on sale, and I didn't actually pay that price.

nikkas still acting like Lupe spitting over lukewarm production like T&Y didn't have bangers throughout lol.

Off initial listens I think I rank it like this brehs

I ranked in order of best to worst so far to me.

1. How much a dollar cost?
2. Blacker The Berry
3. Alright
4. These Walls
5. Mortal Man
6. Institutionalized
7. For Sale?
8. Complexion
9. You ain't gotta lie
10. Wesley's Theory
11. Momma
12. U
13. For free?
14. I
15. Hood politics
16. King Kunta

Considering how much the lyrics to to that institutionalized annoys me, ranking it that high shows how beautiful it is otherwise.

rhapsody verse :noah:

"Let me talk my Stu Scott, ‘scuse me on my 2Pac :lupe:

Keep your head up, when did you stop loving thy
Color of your skin, color of your eyes
That’s the real blues, baby, like you met Jay’s baby :ohhh:
You blew me away, you think more beauty in blue, green and grey
All my solemn men up north, 12 years a slave
12 years of age, thinkin’ my shade too dark
I love myself, I no longer need Cupid
Enforcin’ my dark side like a young George Lucas :youngsabo:
Light don’t mean you smart, bein’ dark don’t make you stupid
And frame of mind for them bustas, ain’t talkin’ “Woohah!”
Need a paradox for the pair of daughters they tutored
Like two ties, L-L, you lose two times
If you don’t see you beautiful in your complexion
It ain’t complex to put it in context
Find the air beneath the kite, that’s the context
Yeah, baby, I’m conscious, ain’t no contest
If you like it, I love it, all your earth tones been blessed :blessed:
Ain’t no stress, jigga boos wanna be
I ain’t talkin’ Jay, I ain’t talkin’ B
I’m talkin’ days we got school watchin’ movie screens
And spike your self esteem
The new James Bond gon’ be black as me
Black as brown, hazelnut, cinnamon, black tea
And it’s all beautiful to me :ahh:
Call your brothers magnificent, call all the sisters queens
We all on the same team, blues and pirus, no colors ain’t a thing :blessed:"

Maybe my favorite verse on the album for real.

I think I would like "how much a dollar cost" more if it wasn't so predictable.

:snoop:

That predictable ass "what if god was one of us" shyt. :mjlol:

if all you took from the song was that the beggar was god then my bad. i took it more as a illuminating the tension between achieving success and the responsibility u have to ya community once you achieve. the ending of the song is besides the point.

Heard T&Y for the first time yesterday. It's a cool album, but it got some beats on there that sound like some white boys made them. Definitely not on the level of this soulful masterpiece.

yep its dope. lupe was spitting his ass off but the production is inconsistent. some of it sound like what wayne was rapping over in his rock phase. but on just rapping lupe delivered.
