Why doesn't TDE update his certifications? DAMN is probably 4 or 5x platinum by now too it moves 500k units a year.

They might not care or they might be waiting for certain anniversaries to celebrate or re-release it. Sony/Columbia waited 20 damn years to recertify It Was Written for its 20th anniversary edition.

I ran through Kendrick's whole discography after the battle and I gotta say I appreciate this album a bit more than I did at first. It's not an album you can really throw on anytime as its a pretty depressing listen but I do appreciate him touching on personal stuff and trying something different. You gotta give him credit for being one of the biggest rappers in the world and not really caving to just what's popular. I still like the production choices too, it's got a unique sound to me. But I'll also say I'm still not crazy about when he sings and some of the goofier voice changes (Heeeeeugh!).

Yeah. At my age this album hit me different. I’m old 😅

The content and subject matter can’t be denied :wow:

The H
Dot is so evolved on this as a rapper. His flows, adlibs, voices are just infinitely better than he was on TPAB and GKMC. Damn and Mr Morale are easily has best two projects. He might go down as the GOAT for real if he keeps improving like this.

I fukking love this album. I always enjoyed it before but admit to listening more with my ears and less with my brain. Like most music these days I got my enjoyment out of it on mostly a surface level and moved on.

Which speaks more to my attention span than the quality of the material.

I've been playing it pretty much non stop since the beef has died down. I thought I'd be playing the albums prior more while on my Kendrick binge but I keep coming back to this one.

Thanks Drake.

Glad you got to revisit. This album made it hard for me to listen to rappers without substance.

This dropped around the same time and I just can’t rock with it lol
