To even suggest such a thing is an excuse and shows empathy to Robert Kelly. There are Plenty of people who are abused that do not go on to abuse others, particularly under age children. For an artist with his platform and magnitude to even suggest his abuse lead to who he became is irresponsible and unsympathetic to those victims. Then mention Oprah in the next bar as to put the two on the same plane. Smh
you sound like a low IQ fakkit

Ain't nothing smart about this kind of music. Every rapper of every era has an album like this. Nas had his with Life is Good. Jay had 4:44, Mobb Deep with the Infamous. It's so many examples of this kind of work. Which is why I don't get the buzz for it. I respect Kendrick's grind and overall maturity, but.....this is just there like any other album.
None of those albums are remotely close to Morale/Steppers... TF !?

theres only a handful of tracks i fukk with on this album

a lot of the beats were mad simple and lacked soul. not really a fan of the whole sequencing the album like its a play or movie vibe, just give us the tracks I aint trynna hear gay interludes over pianos while im riding round.

the the first kendrick album i dont really fukk with at all. people will hype it up though because kendrick is the default "saviour of rap" type figure in the scene.

I think i figured out the whole meaning behind the crown and the whole album in general
So kendrick has been receiving a lot of hate recently for wearing the crown of thorns by people who think he claims to be jesus or the messiah. Something he said at glastonbury stuck out to me, he said he wrote the album because we’ve all got our own issues in our lives that we’re dealing with. he also said he wears the crown in remembrance of one of the greatest prophets of all time so we can walk in his footsteps. He then repeatedly said “they judged christ, they judged you” and it hit me. the whole album and the crown of thorns is about how people are so quick to judge others and point out each other’s faults, that we are blinded by our own. that’s why kendrick places such significance in the mirror, it’s a provides a harsh truth about ourselves and reveals our flaws to us but it can also be an opportunity for us to fix them and become better people. kendrick is wearing the crown to show how quick people are to judge, they say he’s blasphemous but really they’re just proving his point and i think he has intentionally done this. another thing that stuck out to me was when he said imperfection is beautiful, to me that means we can try to fix ourselves and we can but we can never truly become the perfect human as christ was according to the bible, but by following in his footsteps we can become better versions of ourselves. i think it’s important to note that while kendrick may be a christian, i don’t think he’s a follower of the church since on auntie diaries he mentions the day he chose humanity over religion. i think at this point kendrick is in a state of accepting people and loving thy neighbour though he finds it difficult whoever they are in contrast to the church who are notoriously judgemental.

Naw I wholeheartedly disagree with it all

I been listening to Crown a lot more. I like this track now. Still skip the first 3 tracks but I'm gonna listen to Worldwide Steppers a bit more.

This album better win a few Grammys.
