Love this record easily AOTY right now next to Vince’s project …really no one out there in the industry crafting projects as good and cohesively put together as Kendrick ..that fact that he’s able to also intertwine introspective lyricism in a non detached way considering his status is also notable …love how this albums sounds nothing like his previous one as well .. his ability to oscillate between soundscapes/concepts from project to project is elite … hope it won’t be another 5 years for the next joint ..but we eating good off this one

Highest first week of the year, 4 songs in the top 10, one of the best rated albums of the year all while dropping his heaviest project yet after a 4-5 yr hiatus :banderas:. Album speaks for itself but you know dude different when he can really disappear, drop an album and dominate every facet of the game and then disappear again :myman:

Black man taking no losses oh yeah:wow:
That’s true …to take that kind of time off …come right back into the game ..not sound out of touch or of page sonically while still delivering the creative spectrum that your work has been known for since 2009 is pretty incredible … I’ve read some twitter heads talking about how this first 5 album run is comparable to Kanye’s College Dropout - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy run and I gotta agree … not many mainstream nikkas coming with that consistent level of quality content every drop.

For me, Mirror feels a lot like Real on GKMC. Even have similar bounces. And both tracks really serve as end points.
That’s the exact vibe I get from this song too. And tbh Real was the real spiritual closer to gkmc, even tho Compton came after it (after credits).

So maybe the better term is after credits. Mirror feels like the after credits, while everything came full circle on Mother I Sober.

Second week looking he’ll come at number 3 with 85K.

Just for context Harry Styles is about to do 500K first week but he’s got physicals, including Vinyl & CD available for his first week more than half of his numbers are physical album sales.

Physicals still have value amongst an artist with a dedicated fanbase. I’m convinced Kendrick would have moved a decent amount of physicals last week if available

Artists websites.

Kendrick had physicals available the week after i’m guessing due to leak concerns but you can buy physicals for most artists the week of up to a few months after release through their webstores.

I brought the last four Nas albums on CD through his Mass Appeal store

Pusha T’s Its Almost Dry is now on physical through his store

Hell Tyler The Creator hit number 1 a few months ago from a year old album STRICTLY from Vinyl sales. Childish Gambino hit number from a 6 year old EP strictly off Vinyl sales
