:gucci:. Its really not that deep. I love TPAB. However I skip songs on there. GKMC might have one skip at the most. Has nothing to do with being only a rap fan. I listen to all kinds of music. It has nothing to do with it. As I said before the best songs from TPAB might be better but as an overall body of work GKMC is his best

Yeah I have been revisiting it in the last year a bit and it's hard to find flaws as it is the best example of the new artist template/starter pack working to perfection, but it still had to fit within those parameters. It's more rewarding to see an artist do it themselves.

Sing About Me/I'm Dying of Thirst is one of the best songs ever with that said, but a song like Mama or Wesley's Theory is just fukking bananas. No wasted effort on those at all.

Kendrick does what only he can do once again with this album.

He took a lot of risks but his creativity pulls through on this even when I’m not totally feeling the direction he taking lyrically or sonically.

He recertified himself as the Top Dawg of his generation with this album and he might be enter my Top 5 convo

Right now I feel all the tracks flow sonically so I don’t have a favorite but on Rich Spirit I feel like he still taking shots at Drake

The thing is, you can make some good entertaining music while you do all this. Plenty of people have already.

This is fake deep cringy “artsy” “hipster” stuff. No soul. No real insight. He’s just saying the words and rehashing the topics everyone on woke twitter is talking about everyday.

we’ve heard your music :mjlol:

And no ThirdAct, this is not "all preference", not at all. there's a difference between what one enjoys and what is good/bad.

Tpab is up there with the best albums from Prince, Nina Simone, etc whereas gkmc is just up there with the best rap albums. That's not the same league at all. And I agree that gkmc has way too many flaws from a musical aspect...something rap fans might not understand as they mostly listen to rap. Same demographic that don't understand why hip hop albums are never ranked as high as albums from other genres. Reality is they're not on the same level.

Well guess that makes me a simple-minded dilettante then because I like GKMC more. Not taking anything away from TPAB, I respect the artistry, GKMC is just more my thing.

I'd go as far as to say gkmc ranks last in his discography and thats not direspect to the album, its phenomenal...but kendrick's discog is no joke. After gkmc he really started to understand music.

oh absolutely, there's no such thing as "I prefer" or "I enjoy x more than y".

love gkmc, but tpab is a much better body of work. You can have the argument that every song on tpab is a 10...whereas gkmc has unnecessary song and ultimately the album is just not as good musically. It is what it is. Whether you look at the accolades or the pure quality of the albums, tpab wins. Now everybody gonna rock with the album he personally feels the most, that's human, but these 2 albums are not on the same level.
At this point it's like comparing Illmatic to get rich or die tryin.. if you like gangsta rap or club music more grodt will be your speed but that doesn't change the fact illmatic is a better record.

Thats absolutely fine tbh. As far as I'm concerned Section 80 is my fav. I just know if there's a debate and we have to discuss which one is his best album, its gonna be tpab any day of the week. Easily his best work by every metric. I just like listening to s80 more.
