i remember after my first listen of TPAB I was like :dwillhuh:. Not thinking it was super dope or super wack, just kinda like damn that shyt was weird and different. Then I kept listening and it became the best album of the 2010s for me and I still don’t think it’s been topped. But yeah now that you say that and it brought back that memory, I can see why.
Yeah I think its also widely seen as the best album of the 2010s, all genres

Everyone considers TPAB as the much better album...gkmc is great though

but it's a rap forum, and gkmc is an easier album to listen to for simpletons that don't have a musical background or that only listen to rap. With that being said, even on hip hop forums tpab is usually widely regarder as the better body of work.
That’s a pretentious take breh. Just a little bit. I love TPAB and DAMN but there’s nothing wrong with preference. You don’t need a musical background to appreciate TPAB, and preferring GKMC doesn’t make you a simpleton

this seems like gatekeeping to me. Like “oh, if you haven’t taken music theory you’re just an idiot. Stay in your lane and just listen to Kendrick’s early albums, Dumbass”. Is that the takeaway? And apologies if that’s not what you meant, but it came across that way

this is not about preference though, I enjoy tpab as much as I do gkmc...but if the discussion is about quality and which one is better, tpab shyts on gkmc

Kendrick put out the album Kayne wanted to put out.

Just completed my first listen…. best mainstream rap album of the 2020s no doubt.

Kendrick was in his avant- garde bag on this one. Love that TDE allowed him the freedom to explore his creativity.

Haters can go listen to Gunna and Future tired music this summer
nikkas just gotta bring Kanye into everything... Kanye put out exactly what he wanted to put out-- as did Kendrick. Go talk that shyt about Drake or these other impotent "hot/current" artists.

I got no problem better saying GKMC is a better album or they like it more. That was a big album and a lot of the songs take me back to when the album dropped. I'm sure a lot of the songs are like for people that think its better too. Even if you weren't a fan or listening to it intentionally one of those songs were playing in the background at some point. That album is like a soundtrack to a coming to age movie but that movie is really your life.

I still think TPAB is better though. I don't know what to feel about this album yet.

-Music fans have TPAB as his best album, and one of the greatest albums in music history
-Critics have tpab as the highest rated rap album ever
-Artists, musicians have tpab as his best album

don't try to put this on "kendrick fans" to make it seems like your opinion is correct..it is not. It's fine if you prefer GKMC, nothing wrong with that. It's simply not his best album, far from it, and it will never be seen as his best album either. That's TPAB.

Only time will tell if Morale will be seen as his best.

I guess I'm in the minority. I like GKMC more - it's story and sequencing that led up to "I'm dying of thirst" was perfect.

TBAP is a smidge overrated IMO

Tpab is much more than just an exceptional hip hop album, it is a fantastic album period, one of the best ever made regardless of the musical genre we're talking. It features some of the absolute best jazz, funk and classic rnb elements.
The technical and musical aspects of TPAB is literally being analyzed and studied...

Certain points had meblike damn should I even be listening lmao.

I loved all the random tangents too

"bytch you still bump his music :pacspit:"

"R&B bytches don't even do features on each other's songs :pacspit:"

:russ:
Its a great song showing true human emotion.

It reminded me a lot of Kim by Eminem. Although im probably one of the few brehs that actually likes that song lmao.

From artists to critics to listeners, everybody praises the shyt out of To Pimp A Butterfly whereas gkmc is only praised by hip hop fans.
To pimp a butterfly is a bigger accomplishment, and quit efrankly it's also objectively much better. like there's no argument to be made in favor of gkmc against tpab.
