I'm not a hater. I did screw up saying he was typecast in three different roles. He is a typecast though. Every role he's played, or at least the ones I've seen him in have him playing the "mitch". He's even parodied that on that show he has on BET.
I'm not sure what the problem is even if he was actually typecast. He's a comedian; nearly ALL comedians are typecast in their movie roles. Look at Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, Kevin James, Mike Epps, etc., etc. Even if we were take a loose definition of typecast, all of these guys are essentially the same as Kevin Hart. Him being typecast would probably mean something if he was a career actor... Samuel L. Jackson being typecast would be a problem, a standup being typecast is just regular business.

I've never understood what the problem people have of Kevin Hart flooding the market or the "overexposure" considering the fact he gets more and more popular with every act, so apparently a lot of people are enjoying it. The Coli really seems to have an issue with him striking while the iron is hot, as though it'd be more commendable if he disappeared on some Dave Chappelle shyt and then tried to build back up ten years down the line... and then y'all would be hitting him with the "Don't leave while you're hot, that's how Mase screwed up."

I think its a sign of success when half the threads on message boards praise you, and the other half hate but still cant keep your name out of their mouth.

Sure a lot of comedians often take roles in movies that are comedies. Still there's a difference between a Martin Lawrence and a Chris Tucker vs. Kevin hart and Mike Epps. Chris Tucker was typecast as the pothead best friend in movies like Friday and Dead Presidents, but his role in the Rush Hour franchise gave him a different look. The same way the Bad Boy franchise showed a different Martin Lawerence. They were still funny, comedic roles, but different than what people were used to seeing from them.

I'm not saying dude shouldn't be popular. I just don't find him that funny.

Take in that Live.Love.ASAP. shyt is brilliant. It's weird at first, but the shyt is kinda like a relaxed Wu-tang. I kid you not. A lot of those beats are next-level shyt. Stuff I've never heard before.

And what I love about it is that it's HIP HOP. like real hardcore hip hop. None of this pop-fusion jazz knockoff shyt. Rocky raps with a lot of energy, grit and confidence. The beats are raw.

In case you're interested and wanna check out his superb shyt:

The hard shyt: Pretty Flacko, Brand New Guy, Bass
The funky shyt: Peso, Trilla, Kissin Pink
The laidback, dreamy shyt: Palace, Wassup, Demons, Leaf, Keep It G, Purple Swag Chapter 2

All the other stuff he's released is questionable imo.

both. Who's really blowing your mind in the last 10 years? an album, an artist...
To me ,hiphop peaked 15-20 years ago from an artist standpoint. I cant say anyone's really been blowing my mind but i'm a fan of people and their projects. Some of which i will name. I'm only going back about 5 years though. (10 is too much work)

of all that shyt, Live.Love.ASAP to me is 10 times better. But that's my taste. I agree with you. 99% of all hip hop artists since 2005 aren't doing anything WHOA (Lil B, ASAP Rocky and their producer Clams Casino are the exception). But 15 is pushing it. There have been whoa approaches to hip hop. Even if the whole album isn't great, but there'll be 4 or 5 superb, mindblowing tracks.

I fux HEAVILY with some cuts off I'm Gay, though. One of my favorite albums of the last decade too. That "Open Thunder Eternal Slumber" shyt...whoa. Lil B is that nikka.

You're probably considerably younger than me,if you feel this way.

I'm an 84 kid. I'm not that young. How old are you?

I can tell you straight up the stuff that pushed boundaries in hip hop, that's genuinely incredible and came out within the last 15 years
I think some dope albums came out ,yes i agree. But i think artists wise we peaked a long time ago.
None of these new nikkas are seeing pac, big, jay, nas, etc.

For example,i've seen alot of people compare ross to big,but big's sky scrapers above him as an artist.
Ross has a much bigger catalog, yes.
However,it's levels that biggie can go to as a mc that ross will never get to.
Kanye has made some of the greatest albums i've ever heard. But you could remove him and put another artist behind the mic and get an even better album.

very true. But that doesn't mean that people aren't discovering new cool things about hip hop.

I'm talking about acts like Lil B, ASAP Rocky Foreign Exchange and MF DOOM who are approaching rap from highly unique angles.

I could care less about Ye and Ross. Both of those guys were trashbags to me from day one. Kanye has some good songs but overall... if his discography burned to the ground, I wouldn't miss it.

Can somebody poke one of these dead comedians and tell them to get on stage

I dont expect to see Martin and Jamie Foxx but it would be nice shyt Bill Cosby is 119 years old and he's out there.

Chris Rock doesnt really need it and I dont really care cause he always irritated me anyway

Not a fan of my old head Harvey, or washed kings like D.L. (who is still ok at worst)

Ive seen Charlie Murphy, Eddie Griffin and Mike Epps and theyre all second level

The best mofo out there potentially is Chapelle

We need him to come back to grab the throne
