First: I posted the P verse for edification purposes. Shows that you don'thave to be overly complex to craft an amazing verse.

Second: That's not prime P. Prodigy at his best was Infamous through Hell On Earth years. He still was dope on Murda Muzik but not at the level he was prior.
I still consider a good bulk of Murda Muzik prime P. At least the earliest recorded tracks :manny:

Allustrious, Thug Muzik, Where Ya Heart At, Quiet Storm, The Realest, Streets Raised Me, etc. all apex Prodigy. :ohlawd: He hadn’t lost his voice yet

RIP thun :mjcry:

Mural isn't about anything

you can a video showing images of rappers lyrics for every single rap song EVER MADE
You can take Canibus 100 bars and make the same type of video illustrating his lyrics

IT DOESN'T MEAN IS SOME THOUGHT PROVOKING HIGH INTELLIGENT shyt

and no, Swimming Pools isn't crystal clear

People drink to that song like is the goddamn Young Bloods I smoke and drank anthem lmao in bars
when it's the exact opposite

Mural isn't abouit anything, there's no message he's trying to convery there's no story he is telling
It's not lyrical
he just rhyming a bunch of random shyt

You responded all this time and still haven't told me what mural is about

at least I can say Swimming pool is about the effects of a kid growing up in a household full of alchoholics and the overal damaging effect drinking has on society

what can you say Mural is about, nothing, but there's a rooster who listens to be Bach because he BAWKS LAMO

WOW, AMAZING, fukk outta here
Lupe clearly goes clean over your head.

I've told you what mural is about in each post.... and you still missing it.

No wonder you don't feel lupe.

Go over my head how

the song is about anything

a mural usually portrays an image conveying a message, this song says nothing is about song

Kendrick's Humble is far more lyrical and its a radio hit, he conveys multi-layered messages about racism and how the image of black people portrayed in america is a form of brainwashing

Lupe is not on Kendrick level, period never was

How is it lyrical WHEN HE IS SAYING ANYTHING

IN ORDER TO BE LYRICAL YOU HAVE TO USE YOUR LYRICS TO CONVEY A THOUGHT OR MESSAGE

HE IS JUST RAPPING HE ISN'T SAYING ANYTHING

WHAT IS THIS SONG ABOUT

NOTHING

He is just rapping words using references that do not relate to anything or convey any sort of message
its not lyrical

He is just rapping, we all know Lupe can rap, so we can thousands of other people

Like I said, Swimming Pools is more lyrical than that song
he's telling a story while using a metaphor and also making it sound good where people will play in a club to a song which is basically shytting on their alcholism lmao
Do you know what a “mural” is?

Lupe can't make listenable music

his music is corny

Kendrick can make conscious music that sounds good

Lupe is a C level artist at best, he in the same league as Canibus, Ras Kass, and they other I'm too lyrical for the public which is the reason I was never a success ass rappers

Lupe has had bigger success than canibus and ras kass, and him being “super lyrical” was never the reason for Lupe’s downfall. Lupe also has simple tracks, yall just know the complex lyrical shyt and use that as some kinda false point. Even His first single kick push wasnt super complex.

That hovers above cities like weather men
And maybe weather woman
Whatever better to tell ya weather comin'
I prefer girls to reign all over the world

And not rain like, rain man or rain like rain dance
Or rain like a slight chance of rain when it's raining
Or rein like deer slaves to Santa Claus sleigh man
But reign like Queens that reign over made man
And not Queen like Queen killer, rhapsody bohemian Queen
But Queen like white glove wave hand
And not wave hand like it's a heat wave
So you make a fan by waving your hand
I'm talking wave like you saying "hey"
Man, and not hay for horses and hoarse like you almost voiceless
You gotta treat your vocal chords like it's a fortress
And treat every single one of your words like reinforcements
And especially when you're recording
Cause that's the portion that's important....

dawg i'm not looking to mickey factz to get any analysis in music. nikka still waiting on revolt joe response.

i like both artists for different reasons. i'm not that much of fan lupe recent material besides T&Y and pharaoh height. he still highly skilled just musically inconsistent. lupe has too many looking funny in the light moments. he's bitter about kendrick success it isn't a way around it. this the same guy who said logic was better...now you wanna tell about lyricist boi gtfoh. i would rather be talking about skulls or some other album that we didn't get.

He is reacting to Kendrick fans calling him the best lyricist and saying he can outrap anybody. And honestly, this is the only reason Kendrick has any backlash. People go in looking to hear 3stacks or Hov or Nas...or dare I say, young Lupe.
I think this goes to the whole debate over "lyricism". There's the technical definition which concerns itself with the poetic nature of rap (similes, metaphors, alliteration, meter, cadence, etc) and then there's the literal definition which concerns itself purely with what an artist is saying. In the literal sense, what an artist says is just as important if not more important than how they say it. The second definition is less poetry based and moreso prose based. These two definitions are where debates about Pac being just as lyrical as a Big Pun or Canibus might arise. The best artists do both. I used to be a Lupe stan because not only could he make a track like Pen & the Needlez and then make a track like Ghetto Story, but he could combine both styles of lyricism in one song.

No, Kendrick is not seeing Lupe when it comes to that first definition of lyricism. However, Kendrick is very talented with words in the second type of lyricism. Kendrick also doesn't get credit for how talented he is technically when it comes to flowing, multi-syllabic rhyming, internal rhyming, diverse rhyme schemes, etc. Just like Lupe flexes his technical wordplay on tracks like Mean & Vicious, Kendrick flexes his technical skill on a track like Rigamortus.

Here's the really funny thing though: do I think Kendrick could make his own Failure? No, I don't. But I am not in the slightest bit confident Lupe could make his own version of Sing About Me/Dying of Thirst today.
