Do people still bump "paid n full" like they do "Doggstyle"? i said paid n full is a CLASSIC so i dont know why you acting like i called it wack or something.you can still hear songs from doggystle being played in clubs.when was the last time you even played paid n full? lol thats what i mean.there are underground classics Illmatic,Paid n full and theres mainstream classics Ready to Die,Doggystyle.yes paid n full is a mainstream album but the cult following is now underground wile albums like doggystyle are still being played like it just dropped last year.
j

do people still pump doggystyle like it was yesterday?? u hear paid in full in the clubs too if ur talking about throwbacks. especially the 7 minute remix. or i ain't no joke. or move the crowd. GTFOH with that nonsense! they're BOTH classic... there wouldn't BE a legend of RAKIM without PAID IN FULL...

and not to downplay doggystyle that hard, but when that album came out, many people were UNDERWHELMED because they expected it to be like the CHRONIC...it took years later to appreciate it as a classic... hell, after the HYPE drawn down, more muthaf*ckaz were bumping WU-TANG's 1st album that that sh*t...and both came out virtually the same time. so, f*ck outta here with "mainstream" classics... ALL OF THEM ARE CLASSICS.

if ur' talking about "underground" classics... then u have to speak on albums ONLY underground heads would know about... in speaking of KENDRICK.. SECTION 80 would be considered an "underground classic"... damn sure not THIS album... not when u got the ENTIRE HIPHOP NATION talking about and DEBATING if it's this generation's "illmatic" or "aquemini"... there's NOTHING "underground" ABOUT IT.

EDIT: and if this is gauging by SALES... which seems like u are IMPLYING.. u DO realize that this is projected to be the HIGHEST 1ST WEEK RELEASE rap album of THIS YEAR!!! surpasses young jeezy, surpassing, rick ross, surpassing EVERY rap album that came out so far! so HOW again this is LOOKED upon as "underground"

What I dig about this album is that K dot is not afraid to speak of and ask questions about the deeper metaphysical things.
I forgot what song it was, but where he was talking about loving ourselves equaling us hating the vanities we love...that was deep. These are the type of struggles I like to listen to. Not complaining about "blah blah right wing, blah blah bad america", he speaks of the flaws of human nature in a very creative way. And he doesnt outright say it but reveals it in story form.

This album is classic for me, idk about yall.
Not only is Kdot able to pull you in and make you feel like you're walking in his shoes through the experiences he portrays in the songs/skits, but he also is able to do it with catchy hooks, a very entertaining flow and ....oo man this album is the complete package.

5/5 idgaf what yall bishes(ya bishes) think :youngsabo:

Co-sign. It took a lot of spins cause first I just cool out listening to the music, little sounds in the background, and the flows. Then after awhile I really start paying attention to the lyrics. Like there'll be little parts in verses where I'm like :wow:.

You live in a world, you living behind the mirror
I know what you scared of, the feeling of feeling emotions inferior
This shyt is vital, I know you had to
This shyt is vital, I know you had to
Die in a pitiful vain

shyt like that I catch and chew on for a bit and I'm like :whoo:. I like how it's not direct and in your face with it. That's cool sometimes but got have some variety in the rotation. I stayed away from RapGenuis for this album cause I prefer to give the lyrics my own definition and relevance to me. Agree with everything you said though. The album dropping in October goes real good with the weather too. It's hard not to stan this album :bryan:

GKMC is an unfiltered work of genius. Section 80 was a warm up, a very very GOOD warm up, but GKMC takes every ounce of creative potential Kendrick possesses and leaves it all on the track. This album reminds me of Illmatic in the strictest sense that it feels like it comes from the most introspective depths of the artist's soul. I get the same feeling hearing Sing for Me/I'm Dying Of Thirst, Real, and the Art Of Peer Pressure that I do listening to NY State Of Mind, Life's A bytch and Memory Lane. It's as if Kendrick stabbed himself with a quill and wrote this album with his own blood. He tapped into the very fabric of his own adolescent psyche and portrayed it in a manner that was relatable to listeners who've never experienced life through such circumstances. There is love, loss, hopelessness, pride, joy, violence, and intelligence intermixed into every song to the point where the album transcends even Kendrick's personal narrative and becomes a listening experience akin to Life itself. Life offers no answers, only a stream of continued and ever evolving experiences that seam together into an individuals overall existence. GKMC offers no answers, no excuses, just the experience of a day in the life of a young man who is on the verge of making his most critical life choices. The brutal honesty, uncompromising viewpoint, and exceptional lyricism is just such a complex blending of emotion and art that its truly a wonderful listening experience.

GKMC is THE best debut Hip Hop album since Food & Liquor, and with all respects to Lupe, he suffered a leak which compromised a lot of what the OG f&L would've offered, so in effect, this might just be the best Hip Hop debut since the College Dropout. It IS THAT good...

Bottom line, #GKMC is a dope LP with a lot of heart. It took real guts to release this kind of record on a major label in 2012.

There's no hyperbole when I say that lyrically, #GKMC is the same breath of fresh air to this generation that "Illmatic" was to mine.

I witheld my thoughts on Kendrick's #GKMC because I actually wanted to like, y'know, take time to give it multiple listens, but yeah. Dope.
