Why do yall keep saying its a surprise drop?

1) his entire camp said the album was coming soon/this week via social media

2) who cares if their was prior promo ? I dont understand what would that change? You think him saying on Monday the album coming Friday would change anything ? Spotify, apple music, etc are free or cheap subscriptions, you open the app up and listen to something when you know its out, why would announcing it prior change that ? The people who want to hear the album will, as it takes no effort to open Spotify and hit play. Im trying my best to understand the mind set that some how him saying "hey im dropping the album friday" would change any numbers its currently projecting. You open the app and hit play... how would an announcement effect any of that in todays world?

This week? who and where?

This is a surprise drop...lol @ the idea of people you cool with tweeting about an album coming soon being a "rollout".
So if you arent a big social media person and your best friend posts Hood Critic releasing an album this week and people know thats your good friend and it goes viral, that doesnt count as marketing? Even though it accomplished the same engagement as if you posted it cause thats how social media algorithms work?

Ok :skip:

It's the year 2024, a surprise drop doesn't hurt album sales. It's not like the physicals magically showed up in a store and people had to drive to Sam Goody to buy it. Listening to an album is instantly at someone's finger tips now. Everyone knew the album was out by Friday evening, they wouldn't choose to not listen just because they didn't know 2 weeks ahead of time.

Why are coli posters so invested in sales? Do you like the music or not
It's just standard stan talk nowadays. People gonna pick and choose when numbers are important or not in order to support their favorite artist. Truthfully numbers not gonna stop me from listening to anything or how I feel about the artist.

Because they've been fooled into thinking they know what they're talking about.

I always think about Premier saying, "Fans want to talk about sales now, as if they're in the business. Fans should only worry about the music." Once dudes felt informed, they started speaking like they work at record labels. That's what killed real fans. Everyone is focused on sh*t they shouldn't be today.

This shyt killin me in here :mjlol: like some how if the album was announced 2 weeks prior it would of helped. Streaming is instant and mostly free. Anyone who wanted to listen to it would have by now.

Funny enough, a “surprise drop” probably helped streams cause how many people listened to the album when they saw it retweeted/shared on social media to see if he said anything more about drake

Why do y’all care about sales…. lol folks haven’t learned from history. These numbers are great. Considering 12 songs and released Friday afternoon. This is fine. No bundles or physical lol. Save the sakes talk for somebody who actually gets paid for this… interscope wont let this ‘flop’ as Yall say. Numbers look great.
