I was posting on the forums when OD dropped, Kendrick got mad shine for that tape and nikkas was even on to him before that dropped. Are you saying he was a manufactured artist and never grinded on his own? Otherwise what point are you making? Who cares if the Label didn't announce his signing when it actually happened?

What I'm saying some of them are just finding them, and putting them on. Its not a lot but it happens. I guess as a fan it doesn't matter but, when you love music, love making it, and love to see the people who are just like you make it, it isn't cool to see a fake get a shot that others work hard for years to do. This is why a lot of artists behind the scenes didn't like a lot of those "I ain't a rapper" types and got on because of the gangster drug dealers shyt that fans wanted. Even Jay talked about it in the fade to black movie. People took his "I ain't a rapper" term and used it out of context.

Actors go through the same thing. They hated when rappers started getting parts that should have been given to them. In the public they seem cool but, its not like that in reality. Plants are hated because they are taking food out of peoples mouths without earning it like everyone else did.
so Kendrick didn't earn his mainstream success?

I don't believe you.

Do you have links to forum posts or major articles that spotlighted Kendrick prior to and including OD?

whoa there

LLA a 4 - 4.25/5 mixtape with some high highs but S80, GKMC and TPAB both ride better as albums, have mroe interesting concepts and have better lyricism.

rides better? HELL NO.

More interesting concepts? That's debatable and it depends on what you define as "concepts."
Musically... Live.Love.ASAP shyts on any hip hop album I've heard in like 10 years when it comes to genre-mixing, coast-mixing and overall eclecticism (while making an album full of bangers).

Topically? ehh..... I guess I could give that to Kendrick. Both rappers have stale topics.

I don't care about lyricism like that. Personality is far more important to me. Only after you have the personality that I pay attention to lyrics. And lyrically, I think Rocky and Kendrick are about equal. Neither of them say mindblowing shyt.

I was stanning Krit & Gibbs at the time myself. Thought K.Dot was alright though.

Edit: How long you been listening to rap breh? Your skepticism about a well known artist leads me to believe you just recently got into the genre.

Straight out the fukkin' dungeons of rap
Breh you stay bringing up Kendrick :mjlol: Even in threads that don't have anything to do with him
dude seems mad that K Dot has been outselling Rocky and getting higher critical acclaim

damn shame cause outside of COle and K Dot hate and Rocky defending, he's not a bad poster.

That's like 3 blogs. and none of them are major. Even Vibe has OD listed as their 26th favorite mixtape of that year.

I'm telling you: your average hip hop fan had no idea who the fukk Kendrick was until Dre hopped on. 2010 was the year of Friday Night Lights and Kush and OJ. I remember people talking about those mixtapes. Hence why they're 7th and 1st on the Vibe list. No one was talking about Kendrick like that. We can't pretend anymore.

Outselling Rocky? no. I could care less about that. Higher critical acclaim? yes. I think the critical acclaim is forced and fake. It doesn't have to be Kendrick. I saw the same thing happen with Kanye and it used to irritate the shyt out of me.

I'm a hip hop fan. I'm just anti-hype in general. especially when it's grossly unwarranted. "Dont Believe The Hype!"

Regarding my posting, let's just say I'm in the top 1% of posters on here. You know this to be true. that's why people say I'm dumb, but follow my every post and remember what I say. They agree with my sharp observations on stuff - until it comes to the artist they stan. Then it's "Oh you a fukin idiot and just die already!"
