Kelis saying people in the industry have no integrity is

Yeah, a sample is a sample, but I agree. I couldnt hear that shyt either...She called Chad spineless.... I see them saying fukk that crazy bytch and sample more of her shyt(which they wrote and produced)
That said I cant even tell the sample is there. am I missing the track?
She had two songs. That was not next. The two who had actually had next was Aaliyah or Beyonce, then Aaliyah died, and that left Beyonce with the crown. Aaliyah already had a classic by the time Kelis even debuted and Beyonce was kicking everyone back in on Destiny Child.
I'm reading this thread surprised people saying she had a "sound". It was her producer's sound. That's how she disappeared so easily. I'm not even a Beyonce fan that much, but y'all making Kelis into a bigger musical martyr than she actually is.
Flabby PattyThis thread is the rare/Chatty Patty combo
Those ones be in the most stuff on the low low.
Beyoncé nor the Neptunes really owe Kelis a thing…but with that said, Kelis was CRAZY influential on other artists. Y’all are looking at the impact on pop culture when other artists look to specific other artists for that. She could do any musical style and had an extremely unique image, those types of artist who don’t blow up are prime targets for being habitually bitten by others.
I dont for a second doubt though that Pharrell did some shady stuff with her. He reminds me too much of Russell Simmons with that peaceful zen image. Those ones be in the most stuff on the low low.
Don't know if it's been mentioned but apparently the credits on milkshake list her as a performer and not a writer or producer. Heather B was talking about it this morning on Sway.
She was saying that being listed as a performer and not a writer or producer can make the world of a difference when it comes to sampling.
I understand what kelis is saying as far as Beyonce giving her call and letting her know what's up but if I'm Beyonce, why would I want to go thru all that red tape when I can tap straight into the source? Can't be mad at her for that.![]()
This has officially gone off the rails with people making up stories at this point. "Caught Out There" was not about Pharrell. Pharrell didn't have a relationship with Kelis outside of music. According to Kelis, The Neptunes HATED her. She spoke on that while still signed to Star Trak in 2004. Nas never made reference to Kelis and Pharrell and the line from "By Baby" was never directed at Pharrell, but all of Kelis's past partners.
Pharrell is no joke in the studio, so I really don't doubt he's said or done something that made Kelis see him differently. Madonna talked about how Pharrell made her cry during a session because he was making her redo vocals and wasn't exactly nice about it. She talked about how he had these Mickey Mouse slippers on and he wasn't really feeling her vocals and was pretty harsh with her bringing her to tears.
