I think this is dumb and embarrassing but it's not for me. It's for some white person in AZ or NC thinking about voting for her.

But here's my problem with the Coli reaction: how come when [inset democrat] announces a pandering "lets make a committee"-type proposal for black issues you rightfully dismiss it as nothing. But when [insert democrat] announces a pandering "lets make a committee"-type bipartisan initiative you act like it's legitimate. As a general rule, when someone floats a non-binding committee to address an issue...it's bullshyt for the media. Assuming there is divided government in a Harris presidency, which seems likely (dems win the House, barely lose the senate), everything she does will be compromised. The people who will be debating and compromising will be congress, not some group of people outside of DC.
I mean its because I don't believe them. They hold casual racist to near and dear to actually go through with it.

Its crazy to me man. Every presidential election is a fukking do or die event. But they still find it necessary to play footsy with these so called fascist ehh. What a joke.
That is such a simplistic view that ignores how our political system works. It's not playing 'footsy' with fascists. This is the nature of our shytty system and a nation full of ignorant racists who have outsized representation. That's why it's so important to have control over Federal Agencies. I hate that bi-partisan shyt almost always makes us worse off, or stuck in the same place, but the system is designed to force cooperation. There's no reason to be shouting out people like dikk Cheney though. That is far beyond the pale.

The neoliberal consensus is in part what caused the current political climate. People were angry that there was no change, people are still angry. So, indicating a return to more of the same respectability politics without a shred of economic justice is just kicking the ball down the road.

Eventually, the next guy up will be like Trump, except more competent and in an environment where the president can demonstrate autocratic leanings and the people are burnt out on the "threat to democracy" card.

EDIT:
The only way I could see a neoliberal consensus working is if the GOP agrees to settle down on the culture/social war issues.

I don't expect either party to negotiate on behalf of the common people. While the Republicans can come to the table about taxes, corporate handouts and spending, I don't see them coming to the table on social/ culture wars issues and that would break any discussions of both parties coming to a consensus and bringing the Overton window towards the actual center.

And even such a consensus is a nonstarter considering the worsening immigration crisis. We haven't even seen the shape of the nightmare to come once climate change really kicks in and suddenly there are waves of migrants fleeing their countries.

McDowell's
kamala’s current approval rating is higher than trump’s was in 2020 at the same time.

her current favorability rating is higher than trump’s current rating, too.

she has higher favorables than both trump and jd vance.

:unimpressed:
Ah yes, a 2% difference between Harris and Trump is a confidence booster. Shes a shoe-in:unimpressed:

I get what you are saying, but the Democratic Party is a completely different animal from Republicans since Republicans are a minority party. Either way she's imo fukking up with this one. It's not needed and could hurt her a little bit. I don't think she will lose, but she's leaning too heavy into it for sure.
Look, im not her advisor. She brought in a bunch of Biden's people and started pulling the "togetherness" card. Its probably caution since she lost her last Primary bid against Biden and she is taking the path of least resistance with the election coming up shortly.

I don't like it, but then again, she isn;t who I would have voted for to be my nominee. Her choices at this point are for the wishy washy. If it hurts her, it is what it is.

This "reaching across the aisle" doesn't hit the same as the Obama vs McCain era. I know its pandering for the suburban/rural white vote, but its pretty pathetic how Republicans are at the front of her mind and not progressives like Bernie Sanders who laid the groundwork for the policies shes been talking.

She's trying to get those Romney/Bush/McCain voters that have always hated Trump.

Either get their vote or encourage them to sit.
