Slim margins in races should have performed better. When she loses this one, it's going to be non-stop crying about how people hate women and all that. :beli:
I hope she runs just so I can say I told you so and pull receipts left and right.
Not a serious conversation so I will just keep it moving. I don't like the narrative people are trying to spin when overall she's been very successful.

She was attorney general of California a long time ago, so there's no doubt in my mind she could win the governor position.

Her presidential run will have no effect on her odds of winning governor since she'd only have to appeal to Cali voters who she won during the November election. Ain't no Republican winning California, just like there's no Republican in NYS that'd win New York.

I think she'd be considered preferable compared to Newsom, whose approval rating has declined every year; what's crazy is that people outside of California think higher of Gavin than his own state residents. The only reason why Newsom had Cali under his grasp is that he didn't have a worthy opponent; Kamala would definitely give him a run for his money in a primary if he were to decide to continue as Cali governor since he can't run for President, and governor at the same time.

If Newsom declares he's running for the presidency in 2028 then Kamala would be a lock to win the gubernatorial seat. The only way she'd lose is if a better Cali Democrat arises, but the thing is that California doesn't really have strong Democrat politicians, which is one of the reasons why Newsom won his elections easily because the competition was sparse.

Hypothetically, Gavin's gonna have to decide whether to stand pat as gov or risk losing his governor seat for a chance at the presidency, which he may win or lose, and let's say he'd lose that would mean he'd be out of politics altogether in 2028 if he were to fail that year's November presidential election.
bro, she’d have to go around and work. This isn’t some desk job where you give speeches and shake hands.

The governor is a REAL job.

People will elect bullshyt senators and representatives then elect conservative governors. It happens a lot in blue states. People want serious people governors..

in cali she had 2 million less votes as the lead on this presidential ticket than when she was the VP

so look at it like this.... even if she can win, what's the point of her letting her do it? its actually hilarious/depressing as fukk that this entire dialogue is continuing like there are zero other democratic options in california that would not only be better - but gain momentum for the entire party - with that role instead

Not always as past performance could be a precursor to future performance especially if your perception hasn’t changed or gotten worse.

Word to Joe Biden.

That's what the Dems do.

Just recycle the same old politician and the same non ideas.

Way to many democratic politicians at the top have gotten comfortable being a part of that corporate establishment which is why they are STUCK and can't move forward.

She's been attorney general which is just as much of a serious job as the governor position. Is Letitia James, New York's attorney general, not in a real job? She was also primed to run for governor.

Y'all clearly have no knowledge of Kamala's track record as an established politician long before she was attached to Biden and just regurgitating right-wing propaganda about her being all “smiles and giggles”, she knows what she's doing.

She didn't get where she's at in life by just “smiling and giggling.” If y'all want Newsom to run for presidency, somebody's gonna have to win the governor seat and she would be the best option in that scenario because who else in California that's a Democrat has the resume, juice, and appeal to win a statewide race?

Gavin hasn't been winning California because of him being soo great of a governor but rather because the field is weak so people begrudgingly voted for him since the alternatives were weaker or worse; if there was a better Dem candidate currently in Cali, his ass would've lost that gubernatorial seat a while ago. I've seen many people from California saying they're tired of Newsom and how he's running the state.

People are tired of ineffective democrats right now in cali.

Look at your Young Turks type progressives. If you’re losing them, then you won’t win in Cali.

After the fires, the homelessness, the permissiveness on crime etc, rising costs, the lack of infrastructure etc

Newsom has a major chance to shore up democrat losses but Theres a reason Trump started campaigning in Southern California.

The GOP is about to start eating away at at democrats there.

Look you can get mad at me all you want but sometimes people just want “different” and cali is running out of time. Kamala doesn’t really have the “juice” to pull off the control of the public like that.

Kamala should just ride off into sunset and take some board of directors positions and make money off speaking engagements.

After 16 years of Jerry Brown and Gavin Newsom, people want change. If the right Republicans candidate runs (extremely moderate, tough on crime etc) I believe she would lose.
Right. Go be the next Condoleeza Rice or something. This politics shyt is for the birds and is a thankless job.

She can be a way better post-White House Obama if she wants to.
