Just watched the movie "Backstage" for the 1st time in years and realized that

If you listen to Jay's verse on that new joint with Rick Ross and Dre, you realize this dude is way too shallow and quite childish.

I agree he is a positive role model for not doing drugs and a hard work ethic, but he does say on too many occasions that 'Im living proof crime does pay' that shyt is foul and also still talks about being a crack dealer etc.

2 seconds after his child was born he was in the booth probably with no pen and off the dome.

Im just saying dude is no business guru, just a smart man who knows what to do and when to do it. As for innovator or a business template i dont think so, also agree in the backstage tour you good tell he was above the childish shyt.

As a hardwork ethics role model he is great, as a man not so much.

Yeah, Some things that I don't like about Hov like that black Euro shyt, but imagine going back to ya high school reunion and meeting up with the old crew you used to hang with and see all of them being underachievers and straight up bums. While you the only one with a good job and good credit.

That movie was a lifetime ago, but that shyt can be related to anyone in similar context.

My life in a nutshell...back in HS I was a lame compared to them dudes...now I'm getting attention from model women, pretty girls with masters degrees, and doing well financially...cuz I wasn't on that bullshyt skipping class and getting high all the time during school hours (I only got high at night) like the rest of my dudes.

You can look at his tweets and the way he spells and realize he's not a high school graduate. But the man was able to pivot off his record sales and popularity because he didn't fukk with things that would cloud his focus and judgement. That is what this thread is all about. The focused nikka in the movie is the guy who won in the end. The unfocused nikkas are gone with the wind.

Why are they "unfocused" though? You still did not answer that question. Puff and Russell Simmons are notorious for their uninhibited behavior on tours and at parties yet they both have as much, or more money and success as Jay. You rarely see Puff without a bottle in his hand at his affairs and Russ was fukking wild bytches and getting high off that nose candy for years in his Def Jam touring days. You're equating partying on tour (which you admit your only source in regards to the tour was an edited DVD) with being a failure. Just admit you a jay dikk rider and let it go. Thread fail. Im giving the man his props. I don't give a fukk how an idiot translates "Jay was the most focused in the movie". I guess everybody that dapped me on the 1st post are dikkriders because they agree with me according to you. In 5 years of posting on SOHH i've never been accused of being a Jay dikkrider. Personality wise I think everybody on this board agrees that if we spent a day with Jay and a day with Redman, or anybody else from the tour we could see why Jay is where he's at and why the rest of them are where they are. He is saying yo Jay is super successful and you can see why when you look at how he acts vs how these other cats acted in the film backstage.

Your argument can be that maybe the others didn't want to be successful but that's neither here nor there since blackthoughts whole argument is based on the premise of Jay is successful as a result of his demeanor/work ethic and is respected as such.

SMH at this veiled jay-z love thread. There are more factors to Jay's success than him being smarter than the rest of the pack. Dame/Bigg were the business he was the artist that succeed due to them. He then went on to screw them and make other business deals that successful artist normally get. Anyone who sells millions of records gets the same deals. It really isn't that big of a deal. What does he really OWN though? Most of his business is the face that sells the product. 50 owns shyt, Eminem owns shyt too. Jay is normally the go to safe black guy they use when they want to sell us something. He can't even speak for 15 seconds without saying "um" so don't give me this Jay-z intelligence rant. He loves money and will work on behalf of the business interest that will pay him simple and plain. He is doing beer now even though we all know he probably doesn't drink. I could go on..........
