I doubt any of dem nikkas from the Hard Knock Life tour besides Jay has a mill in the bank right now. And if I seen a movie of Clapton and Mccartney on tour together and Clapton spent most of his time getting high and talking jibberish while Mccartney was focused i'd speak on it.
Jay smokes weed and drinks alcohol my nicca. I know all about how you don't drink or smoke and abhor the people that do but guess what.. ya boy does it and just because "Backstage" didn't touch on it and showed everybody else as animals going nuts on tour ya boy does the same shyt as the rest of the fukkups. He raps about selling crack, shytting on women, puffin' the good green, promoting Belvy, Armadale, and now Budweiser. We get it, you want to find the ultimate example of a success story that doesn't have vices and has succeeded materially opposite of those that partook in vices but do not match dollar for dollar of the success story. But Jay is a bad example because he does partake in vices, the film(which is actually their film) is cut and edited to make them seem like they are ultimate businessmen and are above everyone else. And really it might have been Dame Dash(the brand protector) that made sure Jay wasn't shown lighting it up or runnin' a train on a b*tch. You don't know these people behind closed doors dog.

all this, "oh I bet them otha nikkas from the Hard Life Tour don't have a house as big as Jay's does right now" type shyt is childish and petty. Stop it. grow up

introverts are usually not good at the networking/butt-kissing side of business (which is a huge part) but they're very astute when it comes to conducting actual business and not getting sidetracked. sounds like hov to me.

where the hell is dame dash?

exactly. as if this video is the defining moment of jay's departure to greatness from his underachieving peers.

When did I ever say the nikka didn't have any vices? Im saying if he does have vices he's smart enough to not display them and he damn sure hasn't allowed whatever vices he may or may not have to hinder his career. Nobody else from the tour can say the same. If it's childish for me to point that out in a hiphop forum then i'll accept the title.

Thread is stupid a bunch of different reasons...

Off tops, not everybody's grandest aspiration in life is to one day be deemed as a negro acceptable and presentable enough to have the great privilege to sit in meetings with rich corporate jews and have the honor of getting their approval...These dudes are rappers...artists...the type of people who chase the dream of pursuing a career in music because they want to make a living by being creative and doing what they're truly passionate about and love to do...these typically aren't the people with dreams of being straight laced corporate suits...hip hop, like rock n roll before it started off as "counter culture"...they're "urban" rock stars...success on your own terms and by your own rules without conformity and assimilation and kissing corporate ass is partially kind of the whole fukking point...you think DMX, if given the chance to redo his career knowing what he knows now, would decide "I'll do it this time the whole time hoping and praying I'm accepted by 75 year old white billionaires 15 years from now" ? Because I don't, I'm willing to bet he just tries to kick the crack habit and go on from there

Secondly, you're buying into superficial outward images to the point of naivete...being some super serious joyless introvert ain't the only avenue to success or becoming a "boss"...not even getting into the actual business world...but far as just hip hop moguls go, fukking puff is a notorious partier...it's a part of his image and brand....smokes weed, gets drunk, got a handful of babymamas...and is worth more than Jay...Rush snorted all kinds of blow and was a couple hundred m's up before he got old and transitioned into a buddhist hippy...furthermore all of this "can you imagine so and so sitting and having a conversation with rich jews" shyt is silly...not like Jay-Z or any of these super successful guys are doing all of this alone...all of these guys have teams of managers, consultants, and advisers that specialize in business and negotiation helping them out with that...Jay-Z's ability to remain a relevant artist and maintain his brand I'm willing to bet has more to do with his success than anything he's personally saying or negotiating in meetings with "rich and important jews"...don't matter what the arbitrary superficial appearance of your brand is, just that it's strong

Showing a teenage Obama smoking in a black and white old ass pic means nada.

actually, it means a lot.

It means that 30 years later, people will still have that image of Obama and use it against him by Anti-Obama people. Yes, pro-Obama people can say he made it despite smoking weed but the fact is he let an image of himself doing something that can be deemed negative appear in public and so that may be a strike against him so far as social currency/public opinion.

Regardless of which side you're on, we must take into count

1. Weed is generally more accepted nowadays.
2. Obama looks like a straight G smoking that doobie. A far cry from the stoned out version of Method Man and Redman/Snoop

Like when Jay raps about smoking weed, he always downplays it as some cool shyt to do to get your mind right (it's just once in a blue... You got a roll a joint to this, you can't smoke a blunt to this.. ) but not really on some I'm so zooted that I can't move and just ordered a large pizza pie.

So Jay's usage is confined in the eyes of public opinion and even if someone were to judge him, it would be in a much more refined way (similar to Obama) then they judge a Kirt Cobain/Snoop/DMX.

Dope thread though. Both sides are bringing good argument.

I said the same thing when I watched it...u always saw Red, Meth, Beanie, and the rest of them just clowning around.

Smoking, fukking groupies, play fighting :smh:

Dame Dash just having one man shouting matches with the executives. That shyt just left me :ld:

Hov really was the only one on his grown man shyt and put business over everything....and he still does now...that is why he is still :win:

and I quote jay-z from a source article mad long ago

"I don't like how weed makes me feel"

:rudy:
