I kinda agree with op my whole family mad disrespectful towards me 0lus they bipolar ASF. They keep calling me selfish but years of verbal àbuse and bullshyt arguments got me looking out for dolo because I want my own life too... They never say thank you for anything I do or admit fault. My brother and mother two peas in a pod love talking shyt behind my back...but when shyt goes down guess who they come running to for help with shyt?!?

I just keep them at à distance when I get some real breàd I'm leaving and not gonna fukk with them on some isolation shyt they too loud and chaotic I prefer quiet...always being and shyt sleeping with the TV on...fukking annoying...

She was real toxic and verbally abusive brehs. She was also physically abusive when I was a youngin’ But that’s most black moms. She never changed as I grew older as far as narcissism and arrogance. She did something today that cost me a lot(and I mean ALOT) of bread then blamed me like I’m the one who fukked up. I said something like “see that’s why I don’t come around often. When you gonna grow up and learn how to speak to people”. She started going off with the insults and shyt talk and told me she never wants to hear from me again. I said “bet”. Numbers blocked and everything.

Gave them multiple chances , tried to peace it out
But had to toss my mom back in the bushes and my dad on probation
Your peace should come first , especially if it’s REALLY not your fault
I think all the mental illness and depression out here now days if from ppl dealing with family issues

I'm willing to bet most black men can relate to OP on some level.

I know I can; I won't bush my mom. But we're not close like that and it's ok.

She has her own baggage that she grew up with, just can't let it be passed down to me and to my kids.

She's hypercritical, loyal to the wrong people, only accepts responsibility for failure when there's literally no one else left to blame but herself.
Every conversation I've had that could have helped our family out has been pushed aside cause she refused to see me as a competent adult man with real solutions to problems; we've lost hundreds of thousands as a result.

It's not even about love, she loves me for sure, it's about respect. She has none for her kids because she still sees us as exactly that; kids.

We can make fun of OP all we want, but really stop and think about everything I've mentioned, how you treat other women, and compare that to how your mom raised you. (Especially those of us who had a single mom). You might be surprised

I see my son as a baby still too. He still has his baby face so it’s hard not to. I’ll keep this in mind. Would never want him to feel like I didn’t respect him once he becomes an adult. I don’t whip him or anything like that and I always tell him sorry when I make mistakes, or get frustrated. Reading all of this is helpful.

But Damn, I’m sorry Op, about your mom and your childhood. I’m sorry for all of y’all. I hope you all find peace. I can’t imagine what that’s like. Lord knows how much I miss my mom.
