When you gonna grow up and learn how to speak to people”. She started going off with the insults and shyt talk and told me she never wants to hear from me again. I said “bet”. Numbers blocked and everything.

Mine was the same way talked shyt about everybody verbally abusive talked down on people and could never admit she was wrong just an all around toxic person. If I was fukking up I could understand but me and my siblings are very good people who don't engage in bullshyt.

Long story short I cut her off and stopped talking to her 7 years ago and to be honest my life has never been better. After a certain age you become your own person and you have to think about your future first.

I know nikkas in here are gonna give you shyt but they don't know your situation they assume just cuz somebody is your mom or dad they can't be bad people and your just being spoiled. Don't feel sorry for her just do you and if she really valued your relationship she would respect you.

My dad always tells me how the bible says honor your mom and dad, but really that just gives Christians cover to be loyal to their mom and dad even when they get treated like absolute shyt. My dad's mother treated him like shyt his whole life to the point where he was in tears recently reflecting all the shyt she did since he was born. She has dementia now and she's living with him until he gets her a home and she still treats him like shyt. Nothing he did was ever good enough for her.

The point is you should only honor your mom and dad if they are willing to honor their commitment to being a loving parent.

I see my son as a baby still too. He still has his baby face so it’s hard not to. I’ll keep this in mind. Would never want him to feel like I didn’t respect him once he becomes an adult. I don’t whip him or anything like that and I always tell him sorry when I make mistakes, or get frustrated. Reading all of this is helpful.

But Damn, I’m sorry Op, about your mom and your childhood. I’m sorry for all of y’all. I hope you all find peace. I can’t imagine what that’s like. Lord knows how much I miss my mom.

You can still see him as your baby. But you can't treat a grown man like that or baby him has he grows up. If he's a teenager and wants some kind of independence, let him be. If he knows you are a human that makes mistakes, he'll not keep seeing you as god like he did when he was a baby.
