Debt from student loans hinders alot of would be alumni financial support. The majority of students in HBCU's are paying out of pocket/government aid. Many of us don't come from rich families like those at PWI's. Couple that with HBCU's not getting financial support from the state and this is what we get. Many college grads can't find good enough work to make a decent living because most employers don't respect a degree from HBCU's anyway.

I don't know about that bruh:francis:lol

That's old c00n civil rights bullshyt talk, I's better gets me a degree at sa white mans school, cuz nobody gonna hires me with this don negro education. :russ:

Bruh I received my stem degree from Grambling and every position I been in, I had people white, black and other say "You went to Grambling State.":gladbron:

If that is the case, why are there ao many black grads who went to PWI's unemployed and working at low income jobs.

No I don't want that. But you sound like you speaking that corporate stockholder talk. "Oh let's just shut it down Brad, it's underperforming and we can just sell the assets to a developer."...:snoop:.. We need to be striving to keep 100 doors open...for another 100 years.
If your consolidating, its not closing down, its coming together and becoming more powerful.

I didnt say all. Besides, Grambling is one of the most famous HBCU's in the country. You think employers impressed with a degree from Arkansas Baptist College or Johnson C. Smith University:francis:

You did imply all hbcu's, when you said:

.

You think employers are going to be impressed with Timmy or Kelly who went to Kodiak College or Iḷisaġvik College:francis:.

she's done some good things for JSU, unfortunately she's negated all of that by running through JSU's Endowment money. You should never put an HBCU in MS in that predicament

Jackson State will hurt a while from this. but IHL played them by hiring her in the first place. She did Norfolk the same way and they still hurting up there too.

Did anyone actually read the article?
The operating budget for the school is fine, its the "savings" account of the school that's dipping dangerously low.
Part of it likely has to do with the cheap tuition of the school, and various repairs and implementations of new programs.
She wasn't pocketing the money, the school isn't having accountancy issues.
Mississippi has too many HBCUs though, they need to merge a few, share endowments, create a system, something.

Ms only has 3 HBCUs, you sound like some of these white folks down here and her going through JSU savings is a big deal when the savings were being used to fund infrastructure and the operating budget. This state doesn't want to give money to HBCUs as is, now JSU will be pressed for scholarship money in certain areas. This is a huge problem this lady has created at JSU.

Unfortunately, I feel like MS IHL wanted this the entire time.

What exactly happened at Norfolk? I know she resigned before her contract the same way she's doing now (her contract ran through 2019). Did Norfolk lose any accreditation?

My girl was smelling out Carolyn Meyers BS way back in February 2015 I didn't realize how deep it went.

But Phil Bryant is the governor and he's an old school white supremacist so your last comment is most likely the case.

Easy. When companies are going to PWIs, they are going to target top-notch CAC and Asian students. A lot of talented Black students, who would otherwise dominate at HBCUs, get looked over at PWIs during recruiting.

After companies have done their primary recruiting and need to hit diversity metrics, they hit up the HBCUs to grab a few candidates, which are typically paid less than what they'd have to pay the same candidate from a PWI.

How do I know this? I've done university recruiting for my company. I know the game.

We have two HBCUs on our priority list of 50 schools. They are 49 and 50 on that list.

If there weren't a need to hit diversity metrics, I doubt they'd even be on the list.

The "obvious" solution would be to have the top Black students at PWIs opt for HBCUs instead.

But, where would that leave the regular brehs and brehettes who were admitted to HBCUs.

Morehouse's acceptance rate is around 70%. A lot of less-than-stellar students are being admitted. If Morehouse were to drop its acceptance rate to 50%, it'd probably have a hard time getting 1000 bodies in a freshman class.

Because they don't have it... its just that simple

I call bullshyt.

Those nikkas have enough to try to stunt on fellow classmates after graduation.

A lot of those nikkas will cop wardrobes just for homecoming this weekend.

Yet, they can't put $20-50 on the endowment per year?

nikkas talking about consolidating HBCU's is asinine. Those institutions should be expanded, and the definition of what qualifies as an HBCU should be expanded to include Predominately Black Institutions as well. Consolidating schools will ruin many legacies, and it would never pass Congressionally.
