That's not how school trips work. She can't just leave by herself. There's not a staff member for every student on the trip so if they all just decide to leave or all want to do there own thing they just go free for all.
The cuffs was too far. But they went to the courthouse and not the cookie factory.
Being homeless and or sleepy is not an excuse to fall asleep in school, at school, or during school related events.
I swear to God, let there be a viral class video of a black boy sleeping in class while the teacher is teaching math or reading and the super c00ns and bucks will be screaming "lock up his damn mama!" "This is why we are at the bottom" "he won't graduate anyway" "he should be arrested!"
If she's homeless then she should be talking to her teachers and asking for help. And if her teachers can't or aren't helping her...you know who she should talk to who is also a state mandatory reporter and would take action to get her some help? A fukking judge!
Is she just gonna sleep through the whole quarter? Semester? The whole year until shyt starts going her way? And her teachers and the other students should just, what..ignore her cause times are tough?

I understand why the mother tried to get her child in a summer program, because i was put through similar programs: to take your mind off of the shyt that you deal with the rest of the day. To go from that to being abused and threatened with jail as a child for falling asleep is sickening and that judge should never try cases again.

wtf is wrong with you??I really am sorry you were homeless as a child. That's real talk. I work everyday not only with children who are in juvenile detention, kids that are wards of the state, adults who are incarcerated (or will be) and adults in various states of treatment and rehab centers from outpatient, inpatient, residential, and correctional.
Your behavior is not absolved due to your circumstances. If she needs assistance then she needs to ask for assistance. If she needs to take a break, she being a child first and a student second needs to communicate to whomever is in charge and express what is going on. She can't just do whatever the fukk she wants and expect the rest of the world to just let her. That's not how the world works, nor how it should work.

How the fukk are you equating your responsibilities as an adult to what a child should adhere to? You have an obligation as a grown ass man to not sleep at work.
I just fukking told you how being homeless as a fukking child is draining and tiring on many levels. She was not talking or making noise in courtroom being rude, she was tired and fell asleep. All the judge had to do was excuse her and let her leave the room. She is already traumatized by her situation and then to have a piece of shyt assuming she has a bed or stable home is fukked up.
She was not on some "Scared Straight" program or some bad kid, she is just trying to make it and to do that to her in front of the other kids as well is horrifying.

And she is a child. Her responsibility is school. That is her occupation. I don't know of her particular city but truancy is a crime in a lot of states.
She can't go to school and sleep. It's not acceptable in class when and where she is supposed to be learning. And field trips aren't free days. They are educational trips. Shes supposed to be learning. Why does she get to sleep when everyone else has to learn? Or can everyone just say fukk it and go to sleep?
Like I said the cuffs was too far. He could've left that part out and still engaged the rest of the class in the judicial system. Which one way or another a lot of them are going to get real familiar with if they don't have their own personal experiences already.
