Thats not entirely true. The '88 niners went to NY and beat the Giants in a huge game that ended up having playoff implications. Niners made the playoffs and won the Super Bowl.. again
So it’s about regular season?

Montana got owned by the giants in the playoffs in 86 and 90. He never faced the bears at their peak

This is an example of narrative based posting. The 49ers and giants from 1981-1990 faced eachother 4 times in the playoffs and they were 2-2 against eachother.

You crafted your narrative from youtube highlights of montana getting knocked out of both games and you concluded Montana was "owned" by the giants :mjlol:
Yeah he got owned by the giants at their peak. 86 and 90. When they were actually Super Bowl contenders. Congrats on beating a 9-7 giants team in 1981.

Yes he would. Put him in shotgun and slang it. Look at all the mediocre QBs putting up monster numbers. George woulda been balling. Jake Plummer too.
What mediocre QB in today’s nfl is putting up monster numbers?

You a 49ers fan. What numbers was Garapalo putting up?

And Jeff George had decent stats during this hard to pass era you all have made up in your minds, including a 4,000 yard season and leading the NFL in passing yards one year with 29 TDs and 9 ints.

mom paper Jimmy put up good numbers. Tanehill last year. Kirk cousins, Jared Goff for a few seasons, Baker, etc. those numbers back in the day would have been baller.

Neil in 1984 had 4600 yards and 28 touchdowns but apparently the great QBs of today would have no chance against those 80’s defenses :mjlol:
Joe Theissmann had some excellent years also. Flipper Anderson had 336 receiving yards vs that vaunted NYG defense. I think Steve Bartkowski and Ron Jaworski had some great years also.

Ken O’Brien’s ‘85 season

3,888 yards, 25 TD, 8 ints, 1.6 int percentage, 8.3 yards per attempt against the vaunted 80s defenses.

2 seasons. Now what about the rest of his career?

picking and choosing 1 good season is a losing argument. I watched enough to know the numbers now are heavily inflated due to the league pushing offense and being more passing focussed.

Those QBs would have put up numbers then too.

Rich Gannon was a back up for 12 seasons and then ends up being one of the best QBs in the NFL for like three years.
