Roger staubach had to face the steel curtain who had more HOFs:russ:

Montana got owned by LT’s giants so I don’t see how that’s an argument in his favor.

That’s another thing he never actually faced the 85 bears in the playoffs, he faced the 88 bears.

He did face the '84 Bears who to this day have the most sacks in a single season (72)

I still have Montana as the GOAT too never lost and won all 5 in a decade not over 22 years...never lost twice to a clumsy mufukka like Eli...

Won all his SBs convincingly, never got bailed out by a kicker or a bad playcall by the opponent.

The problem is Joe was beat up like most QBs during these days. When he got to KC he was a wreck physically you could blow on him and he would get up slow..

That’s not Brady’s fault though..

Brady is the greatest of all time

Brady had rule changes FOR him.

Imagine the nfl changing the rules after LT dislocated Theisman knee or Jim Burt killing Montana in 86. Context matters. respect Tom but the physicality Joe faced Tom did not. Especially later in his career.

Everything Joe did, Tom has done

And Tom did it without the GOAT WR at his disposal for most of his career

If we gonna use this logic, it also means Joe lost a lot more to lesser teams that's why he didn't reach the same amount of SBs Brady did :manny:

However, debating who's better between players playing in different eras is pointless. The best you can do is judge them based on their contemporaries.

The NFC won 13 straight SB's in Montana's career so what "lesser" team are you referring to?

Montana was a 2 time SB MVP with Rice in highschool and college. Why discuss this?

What has Brady done ( in terms of on field performance) that Montana hasn't done relative to era?

I used to be reluctant to say this but Tampa proved it. He’s past the goat QB discussion. He in that Jordan, Gretzky convo of greatest athlete ever. As in put him on any team and you winning and at the very least a contender.

Really it’s Barry Bonds…..

Brady won 2 Super Bowls in which the other team didn’t score a touchdown, and one in which Brady threw for under 150 yards

he had Dwight Clark before Jerry

Brady played at an mvp level multiple seasons in his 40s

Brady also transitioned to a new team & offensive system, and won another SB

Brady won SBs where his best weapon was a TE :mjlol:

Joe is the second best, but the gap between Tom and Joe is HUGE
