The US is different but man, a strong third party to keep the Democrats and Republican s on their toes is sorely needed.

There is no political viability for a third party in the us at a federal level. Both the dems and rethugs are functioning coalitions.

instead of policing how disillusioned voters react to things like this, it would be great for the establishment types to come up with a plan to counter this and explain what it is going forward. fear and threats only work so much. this is part of the reason why turnout is so low

The point is, the Dems now hold the power to make those interests harder to revert to preserve them, they should use that power. Force prioritization for when R's can gain enough control to make changes.
