I love Ali but he was wrong for a lot of the things he said in the lead up to the fight. Especially the “gorilla” stuff.

Ali was so caught up in the mental aspect and was tryna throw Frazier off his game that he was putting down another black man.

Crazy because the two started out as friends. Joe pushed for Ali to get his licensed back. But in the name of fight promotion, Ali took it too far. At least Ali apologized and the two were able to make amends before they passed.

But that's still the best rivalry in sports. At least trilogy. Each fight was :wow:. My barber has the poster for the Thrilla In Manilla in the shop

Ali apologized but I don't know if Joe ever truly accepted. I read that his kids said he still hated Ali at the time of his death. Props to Muhammad though for still coming through to pay his respects.

Ali wouldn't have become who he was if he didn't do it

He regretted it cause he was just playing around but them emotional boxers of his time took it real personal and held it against him for decades

Not realizing that the hype Ali created benefitted them as well

:gucci: So you callin Frazier emo because he despised Ali for them c00n ass comments and disrespect? Smh those were different times that shyt wasn’t cool at all( I’m sure cacs loved to see it) to be doing especially since Ali was on some pro black shyt

Joe was tight behind that because he had previously held Ali down with paper when he was out of boxing. If anybody deserved to be called an Uncle Tom during that time, it was Ali for downgrading another black man for the pleasure of white people. I think they had made some appearances together later on in life, but I'm pretty sure Joe took that beef to the grave.
Yeah it was a documentary I watched years ago not long before Frazier died and he still felt a certain way about that and you could tell it still bothered him to that day all those years later.

Ali is revered and typically viewed as the gold standard among professional athletes, but in that situation he came across looking like a clown.

There is nothing wrong with having a colorful personality, promoting and selling your fight, and having a certain schtick associated with you; however, you don't do that at the expense of demeaning another man especially another Black man during those times.

Frazier didn't really have the same charisma as Ali as talker so he kinda had to endure that internally, but I know that hurt him, he's human.

This thread isn't about those boxers this thread is specifically about Ali and Frazier.

I spoke to their relationship.

I'll never shyt on another Black man to or in front of White folks no matter how much I don't care for him.

That shyt should have been a no no and someone in Ali's circle should have got in his ear and told him to chill.

Frazier wasn't shytting on Ali, he was trying to help him get his boxing license back and he was also giving him money while Ali was out of boxing.

You can talk about the c00n azz boxers all you like, but they are irrelevant to his relationship with Frazier and how he treated him. You don't do your brother like that.

This was life or death

That in the era of no air conditioning

It was 120 in the ring

They fought for the heavyweight title of each other.

Eddie futch saved joe life stopping the fight in the 14th round

Ali won the first 5 rounds joe won the middle rounds

Ali pot shotted him the 11 to 14th round pretty much

Ali fell out after that fight

The guerilla stuff ali admitted he was wrong i dont think he meant it with bad intention

Just calling a black man a guerilla wrong
