Count the 1st team all defense , 2nd team all defense and the DPOY. And come back and try to dismiss Coop's comments about guarding NBA players.

Ain't nobody in 2023 scared of Michael Cooper, bruh.

JJ would buss his ass pretty easily.

You drop JJ off in '88 with no left hand but same shooting ability. He's avg 20.

I like Kendrick Perkins. Unintentionally hilarious broadcaster :dead: :dead: :dead:

I actually don't mind JJ Reddikk. He goes overboard sometimes though. Wouldn't mind if he becomes a main co host to Stephen A Smith. They got good chemistry on TV

This is exactly what jj wanted to do and is doing.

I been peeped this.
They missed using the pompous disconnected soccer euro guy in this spot.
Plus the last wannabe skip.
So jj is obviously like I will be rhe new skip.

It is what it is.

What!?! His archetype? A guard who shoots 50/40/90?!??! Price would have like 25 on like 10 shots man.

His Cleveland teams were never gonna beat the Bulls or Pistons but he was no scrub.

Him, Dan Majerle, Chris Mullin and Hornacek were no joke man. They would KILL it now. Open court and 3's all day?!!

Mullin would put up 40 in his sleep.

Mark Price gave guards like Isiah hell. He could play in any era.

This is crazy talk

My brother.

You cannot name a player in the past 15 years who matches his physical profile (must also be American) and race who accomplished what he accomplished. The international talent pool has helped push these sort of players away. 6’1 170 will have you g-league bound, with your career highlight being a dunk contest win :francis:.

wtf does that have to do with the fact that when he played, he was good?

How does that apply.

That makes him even more unique. Despite being undersized and slow he killed folks.

Only on the fukkin Coli can Isiah Thomas be sitting next to a player and say he was the shyt and folks say the opposite. And have folks co-sign that nonsense

JJ is exactly what ESPN loves hiring. Another boring annoying personality. Right up their alley.

It would be hilarious watching JJ coach NBA team. He's like one of those retired NBA players who are desperate for a post-retirement career in NBA. The fact that he got himself further in the media thanks to his wild takes on old school NBA is exactly why I don't waste my time on ESPN talk shows.

I can't even remember JJ being able to get his own shot off without multiple screens

This. What is the point of saying he'd "lock up" a guy who scored most of his points on off-ball catch-and-shoot? Was Michael Cooper especially good at fighting through screens? I don't even remember if anyone was doing multiple-screen sets to free up jump shooters in that era.

Even with the premise that Cooper would be an elite defender in todays game.. Waste Michael Cooper on a shooter who is always the fourth option on offense, and can't create off the dribble. It's a stupid conversation from Cooper, driven from ego, what does locking up JJ Reddikk have to do with the modern game today?

Cooper gonna fight off the numerous outside screens that didn't occur in his day? To make sure to stop, JJ f'in Reddikk.. Lol.. He wouldn't guard Paul, or Jamal Crawford against say those Clippers team, instead? We know Byron Scott is playing Redikk, and Redikk would get his 14 easy. If you use Magic to play him, it's too much work.

He's going to switch anyways. Even if he's a defensive savant, you want to waste your defense on a spacing shooter versus actually stopping a perimeter threat?

This is all ego, Coop is not analyzing the structure of the game today into his account. And Redikk is right, the 80s game was soft. And 3s up until probably mid 90s when they moved the 3 line in, basically defenders sagged.

I am not even a guy who believes the new age is totally better, but the sheer ignorance of not taking any change over time into account is absurd. Not demonstrating an accurate account of how its a different game, put your thought into todays context.. Its why they are labeled old heads and not knowledgeable

All of this. The whole response doesn't make any sense.
