Dude was a defensive back on defense breh. A damn spider with multiple arms.

Funny thing is, Reddikk wasnt beasting on anyone. He was a spot up shooter for a team that had the luxury of using his one dimension. Coop wasnt stopping that if facing a team good enough to make JJ that player.

This lacks nuance. Its like comparing the brand of basketball from 2000-2005 to 2006-2010.

You need to divide the 1980's into 2 parts. 1980-1985 and 1985-1989

The second half of the 80's was clearly more low scoring and physical than the 1st half.

you can clearly see there is a huge drop off. Obviously, the rise of teams like the Bad Boy Pistons and others trying to imitate them contributed to this quite immensely. The Pistons themselves were a microcosm of this change. Fast paced and free scoring in the early 80's and ultra defensive in the mid to late 80's

This graph doesn't even take into consideration the big difference in pace between the quick flowing, fast break heavy Western Conference and the slow-paced, ultra defensive half court Eastern conference as both conferences were categorized in the 80's and to an extent, in the 90's as well.

lol - you're so full of shyt.

Here's the scoring by year:

1980: 109 ppg
1981: 108 ppg
1982: 109 ppg
1983: 109 ppg
1984: 110 ppg
1985: 111 ppg
1986: 110 ppg
1987: 110 ppg
1988: 108 ppg
1989: 109 ppg

How the fukk you going to claim the second half of the 80s was "clearly more low scoring" when it was the EXACT SAME as the first half?

You blatantly lied about there being some sort of split in 1985 between higher/lower scoring eras just because you're trying to push your MJ agenda.

Pace-by-season-1-768x558.png

you can clearly see there is a huge drop off.

You're being deceptive as fukk. The huge drops in pace came in the late 70s and mid 90s. Pace during the 1980s was relatively stable.

1980: 103 pace
1981: 102 pace
1982: 101 pace
1983: 103 pace
1984: 101 pace
1985: 102 pace
1986: 102 pace
1987: 101 pace
1988: 100 pace
1989: 101 pace

Where is your "huge drop off", liar?

How about the comparison to today? Since your chart deceptively stopped at the recent peak and didn't include the last three years?

2021: 99 pace
2022: 98 pace
2023: 99 pace

So the pace of the NBA for EVERY year of your supposed "low scoring physical" 1980s was faster than the pace right now.

We don’t allow his archetype in the league anymore breh.

He was no joke in the 80s-90s because most of them nikkas was trash :trash:

What!?! His archetype? A guard who shoots 50/40/90?!??! Price would have like 25 on like 10 shots man.

His Cleveland teams were never gonna beat the Bulls or Pistons but he was no scrub.

Him, Dan Majerle, Chris Mullin and Hornacek were no joke man. They would KILL it now. Open court and 3's all day?!!

Mullin would put up 40 in his sleep.

Mark Price gave guards like Isiah hell. He could play in any era.

This is crazy talk
