I agree with the flow stuff.

Jay-Z legit sounded like he couldn't rap on MCHG.

Flow is 3/5 (MCHG was 2/5 throughout a lot)

Lyrics are 5/5

Hopefully this empowers emcees talking about more than bytches, Europeon brands and selling/using drugs (a lot of them ain't really doing/moving)

Somebody should start an impact thread separately so we can discuss

You could argue Jay played a role of sorts leading the culture to Europe in 2002

If he could play a role leading out and arguably back to its essence that would be amazing but the people have to be responsive

Too many of our people get their confidence and sense of self by identifying with European racist brands

Am I the only one feeling that the beat to Kill Jay-z could bang a bit harder, the drums/bass are too soft

The sampling on it is so incredible I think with Jay spitting too much percussion could overshadow it. The sample is also a message itself

But the mixing and mastering could be cleaned up overall. That's my only real criticism

You got it over TBA?

To me it's top 4. So I think my order is the same as yours but I might slide in TBA over 4:44, but....TBA was an important album in my life and that time period, so maybe nostalgia is playing a part, and I can see how this album is more mature and the content is powerful, and the production is very cohesive since it's all one person.

I'll need some time to sit with it, and objectively it may end up being better than TBA, but right now I think I'll want to put it at #4.

I think most sensible heads will at least admit that it's a top 5 Jay album.

I'm really glad he finally did a full project with one producer and kept it fairly short and sweet. 10 tracks with one producer and no guest rappers is perfect for Jay at this point.

This wasn't a JAY-Z album. This was a Jigga album executive produced by HOV. :whew:
Dope line. Reminded me of some shyt he would've said on Threats.

Great lyrics...horrible flows
I am not sure what to make of the flows. A little bit of it seems to be Jay literally just stopping raping to basically talk on the beat. And even when he's rapping it's almost like he's just sort of talking over the beat and definitely the days of Black Album and Blueprint 2 are over when he was at his peak in terms of his flow (IMO but many people will agree).

I could tell the flow was changing towards what it's like here on MCHG and I didn't really like that album, but the production on this and the content of the lyrics makes me sort of enjoy it. It's different for sure and not at all like the Jay I'm used to hearing.
