Major shake up in Pro Wrestling NOAH

There is a major shakeup in Pro Wrestling NOAH. We don't have a lot in the way of details right now but should have more as the night goes on.

The gist is that Kenta Kobashi was fired, apparently because his salary was so high and the company is in such financial distress. Right now the rumor is Jun Akiyama, Go Shiozaki, Kotaro Suzuki and Yoshinobu Kanemaru and others may not sign their contracts for 2013 out of loyalty to Kobashi, who along with Mitsuharu Misawa, were the two people who really built the company.

Add Atsushi Aoki to the list too. How you gonna fire Kobashi and expect dudes to just take it :to:

Full Dome card:
NJPW "WRESTLE KINGDOM 7 ~EVOLUTION~ IN TOKYO DOME", 04.01.2013 (WPW/PPV/iPPV)
Tokyo Dome

0.1. Wataru Inoue, Tama Tonga & Captain New Japan vs. Tomohiro Ishii, YOSHI-HASHI & Jado
0.2. Jushin Thunder Liger, Tiger Mask & Hiromu Takahashi vs. Ryusuke Taguchi, KUSHIDA & BUSHI
1. Special Six Man Tag Match: Manabu Nakanishi, Strong Man & MVP vs. Toru Yano, Takashi Iizuka & Yujiro Takahashi
2. NEVER Openweight Title: Masato Tanaka (c) vs. Shelton Benjamin
3. IWGP Tag Team Title: Davey Boy Smith Jr. & Lance Archer (c) vs. Hirooki Goto & Karl Anderson
4. Special Singles Match: Yuji Nagata vs. Minoru Suzuki
5. IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title, 3 Way Match: Prince Devitt (c) vs. Low Ki vs. Kota Ibushi
6. Special Tag Match: Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima vs. Keiji Muto & Daichi Hashimoto
7. Special Singles Match: Togi Makabe vs. Katsuyori Shibata
8. IWGP Intercontinental Title: Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs. Kazushi Sakuraba
9. IWGP Heavyweight Title: Hiroshi Tanahashi (c) vs. Kazuchika Okada

You know it's stacked when Nagata/Suzuki is fourth up. :whew:

I was wondering what that Observer headline was about when I went to the site, saw it and then saw that NOAH hadn't folded yet. Though honestly, it's just a matter of time at this point.

It's sickening to me that KENTA's wasting what could be the last years of his prime with this moribund company.

Not shocked about NOAH at all. The best thing that can happen to puro is them closing and NOBODY creating another promotion. Just go to New Japan or All Japan or freelance. Puroresu doesn't need more wrestling companies.

It's all pretty watchable but the only match I'd really recommend is the Sakuraba tag, Ishii brought it :leon:

Pretty cool looking Korakuen show leading to the Dome show:

Tokyo Korakuen Hall

This is pretty good if you have eight or so minutes to spare:

Couple of changes to the Dome show:

Daichi is injured :to:

Sapp is now a member of CHAOS for some reason.

Did they explain why Sapp is... you know what? Doesnt matter, this is the best company in the world. They deserve more than just a pass for this.

Sapp is only in the opener, it's not a big deal

Still, New Japan is playing with fire with Inoki trying to get involved with things. I have faith that Jado & Gedo will be smart enough to book a UWF/UWF(i) type of angle than recreating the Inokism that almost killed the company. But still, they have to be cautious.

Daichiiiii :sadbron: I wanted to hear that entrance music in the Tokyo Dome once again :to:

As long as he's wrestling, you'll more than likely see him in New Japan. Kid's still young. Let him recover.

Speaking of Inoki, did you know that he apparently converted to Islam (maybe now, maybe in 1990) and changed his name to Muhammad Hussain Inoki during an IGF trip to Pakistan recently? Now you do: Furthering diplomatic ties: Japanese wrestler Inoki arrives in Pakistan – The Express Tribune

Another story on his trip: Legendary Japanese wrestler Muhammad Hussain Inoki revisits Pakistan on a Peace Festival - Explore Pakistan

Note: This being Inoki, I have no idea whether this is legit or just a dumbassed publicity stunt. Both are definitely in play.

Inoki originated japanese style fukkery. But if Daniels can be Curry Man, Jericho can be Super Liger and Toru Yano can stay employed then Inoki can eat a bean pie :manny:

Yeah, I read the Inoki converted to Islam decades ago. He just made it public and changed his name.

Just don't give him any creative input nor booking control :damn:

Hmm...now that you mention it, I do vaguely remember reading it and not committing it to memory.

But still, nobody really needs to see Inoki and New Japan back together again, especially with both Wrestling and Japanese MMA on the downslide. Giving him booking power would probably signal the end of Puro altogether (And I LOVED Shoot-Style).

I hated the Fujita megapush. Thats pretty much what tuned me out of NJPW in the first place. For some reason posting this made me REALLY miss Dr. Death... :to:

I almost shed a tear when I saw this picture from today's attendance

wL4kC.jpg

They claimed 29k paid (like 10k more from previous years) and from the looks of it, it seems like 40,000-45,000 were there. New Japan deserves it :to:

Oh, here's Tanahashi vs Okada III

:eat: brehs
