So I just watched the NJPW iPPV yesterday after work...
I'm not sure if Tanahashi/Suzuki is 5 stars like Meltzer rated it, but that was probably the most intense Puro main I can remember watching since Tana/Goto a year and a half back, and this was probably better than that. Great story with Suzuki beating the shyt out of Tana and just being craftier and harder than him, but Tana ultimately pulling it out due to sheer tenacity.
Also, did you guys notice that there were no pinfall attempts until the High Fly Flow that finished the match? That had me like
when I noticed it. Amazing how they built drama without those pins.
They needed a filler challenger for Tana (couldn't go with Anderson as he had the WK MITB storyline with Okada) and they are finally giving some rest to Naito, hopefully.
It ain't serious, this is like the Tanahashi/Yano feud from a couple of years ago. Just some filler shyt to keep them occupied.
The main difference here is that Yano was crazy over in Osaka, so it was a heated main, along with the fact that his pure heeling allowed for another dimension of Tanahashi to show.
Yujiro hasn't done a damn thing interesting; the only good thing about him were the two shirts he wore at the iPPV (I'm still looking for a screen shot of that Secret Service shirt that he wore before his match with Naito. Green to whomever can procure that shot for me).
