It was like Craven, Raimi, and then Argento rolled into one. Probably would’ve got more movies like this even earlier had Dead Silence turned out successful.

Ever since then it feels like Wan has tried to keep this side of him hidden from the mainstream audience.

I think Aquaman being so successful gave Wan the confidence to lean more into his goofy over the top side. Which is cool. For a flick like this though, I think it would’ve been better served if he went full Croenenberg with a dark and nasty body horror type of tone. Like the Fly remake could’ve been like this given how ridiculous the concept is. Croenberg could’ve made it over the top and campy but what makes the Fly so scary is how serious it takes itself and how grounded it feels despite the premise. This movie was entertaining just with how unashamedly over the top it was but if Wan took the concept a bit more seriously I think it could’ve been a horror classic

I watched and enjoyed the movie. The twist/ending kind of reminded me of Sleepaway Camp. :mjlol: yooo can you imagine them rebooting Sleepaway Camp now:bryan:

This movie gotta be mad awkward if you watch it without know the story and you're a conjoined twin
