Crime absolutely needs to be fixed.

i made a post awhile ago about it but IMO Jamaica needs to do the following (these are realistic things....)
  1. Drastically cut down the crime problem (further decriminalize marijuana, destroy the control of dons, flush the criminals out of the government)
  2. Invest heavily in education (vocational and traditional, embrace that Jamaica's native language is Patois, not English...also work with Cuba and Mexico and DR to facilitate Spanish language training)
  3. Engage diaspora (There is HUGE potential and wealth in the diaspora but not only do Jamaicans push the diaspora away, those born in Jamaica tend to not want to go back. Look at our neighbors, Cuba, Haiti, and DR and see how they engage their diaspora. Or look at how the African disaporas help their home countries)
  4. Fully embrace our music (ESPECIALLY dancehall, allow them to make money that can be used to make positive impacts in our communities)
i would like to see more drastic changes but i believe the stuff i listed are achievable and realistic (although putting down crime is easier said then done of course)

A large percentage of people around me and im my area are Jamaican but we can agree to disagree and I respect your opinion. At the end of the day this situation isn't looking great and I don't think Jamaica will be the only place affected by it.

I think some drastic shyt needs to take place.

We might need something like what Israel has: mandatory service in the military for all citizens. (we don't have the resources but some function might be able to e carried out)
Community service and discipline would be the goal, and the effect would be to starve criminals of influence and recruitment.

I'm going :gucci: at some of these communities sheltering, hiding, and now defending these evil-ass wasteman.

I would want To see a benevolent dictator in Jamaica that will 1) declare Jamaica a republic 2) stomp out crime 3) purge government 4) encourage diaspora investment and settlement 5) declare Patois an official language and invest in education

I want the same for Haiti. We should have hopped on the wave with Fidel Castro but we didn't.

Duvalier's son fukked up Haiti by bringing in foreigners. as bad as Duvalier was, there were alot of positives to his rule. I believe he was nominally anti communist which is why the US allowed him, Batista in Cuba, and Trujillo in DR to rock.

I still don't like Papa Doc. My step father and his family worked under the Duvailers. Anyways Duvalier's son did MORE then just fukk up Haiti. He is the biggest reason why people think Haiti was ALWAYS poor and mostly responsible for its current situation.
