Focus on yourself and building your family. If you're good at that, focus on the community and expand.

Or don't and sit on the Internet complaining all day, pretending that it makes you "politically aware" or that you're "making a difference."
That cacs mother was chilling and relaxing with her family without a care in the world in the 60’s while blacks were jailed and killed for pushing the in the civil rights movement.

If black folks had taken her stance in the 60’s we would be even more fuvked today.

If you not an upper middle class or better white person you gonna have to make noise throughout your entire life to make things better for your descendants.

The only way out of this mess in the United States is for the feds to invest couple hundred billions in about 20 nuclear power plants to lower energy cost . They failed to manufacture solar panels in America, Intel is dying, steel manufacturing is dead , auto industry is on it's last leg , Microsoft will take a big hit once the Chinese come up with a good desktop operating system. The railroads are failing , businesses are closing , we have no real 5g internet & prices are out of control

Breh..... :francis: The truth bombs causing casualties.

I swear dudes creating these threads do absolutely no research. And if you check their post history you’ll be able to u ravel their motives.

This isn’t Apple’s first headline-grabbing investment announcement. In January 2018, during Trump’s first term, Apple announced a $350 billion contribution to the U.S. economy over five years. That included plans to create 20,000 jobs — the same job creation figure in last week’s announcement. In April 2021, during the Biden administration, Apple announced an “acceleration” of its U.S. investments, with plans to spend more than $430 billion over five years.

@B86This what they always fall back to. "I ain't gotta know anyone personally."

Sad life.

This is a wild thing to post on a black forum full of people whose parents or grandparents didn't have the luxury of not thinking about politics in the 1960s/1970s. Many of whom had their ability to have professions, families, peace etc impacted by the very politics they couldn't ignore.

Caring about politics and actively participating is normal behavior. The only thing I view as toxic is the doomerism that has infected so much discourse, especially liberal/leftist ones. IE the world is ending, don't have a family, don't go to school, don't apply yourself, capitalism will fall any minute, etc. There are a lot of people stuck in suspended animation because they actively disengaged from normative behavior years ago and are now paying the consequences. Avoiding that fate is important...but you can avoid it while also being politically engaged.

There was and is no single black experience. One of my favorite books has always been Roth's "The Human Stain." There are passages in the book where he absolutely nails these complex distinctions better than any historian and sociologist can.

One such example.

Many middle-class blacks of the 1960's were more worried about mixing with other classes than they were about the menace of racial discrimination. There's a fair amount of material which discusses how many blacks of the era were dubious of King, Malcolm, and many others. Saw them more as agitators and were far more focused on family and education.

Also see:

Similar, as another example, there was and is no single Jewish experience.

One of my favorite passages from Caro's "The Power Broker" describes the dynamic between Jews who emigrated from Germany and those who later emigrated from Eastern Europe:

Caring and active participation is not unhinged one-sided shyt posting on an Internet forum. It's thought out, reasoned, and action-based.

It's based in building communities of well intentioned, family oriented citizens who share similar beliefs and goals.

But I understand your point.

Jobs for who?

I’ll wait

Not celebrating Thanksgiving before I eat the food.

:francis:

For anyone, and I mean anyone, who understands how to spec, design, build, and troubleshoot any of the complexity required to operate a company with a 3.37 trillion dollar market cap.

Currently work in FAANG (or whatever, Alphabet-Amazon-Apple-Netflix-Meta-NVidia). All of this talk of discrimination, man, they are desperate for talent. If you can do the thing, you will be rewarded. Goes for Wall Street, high-level government, etc.

Are there politics? Sure. Can you win? Absolutely. Focus on how to win.
