Jay-z has been smokin shh!t and smashing and a factor in hip hop longer than Biggie was on Earth...saying he hasn't surpassed him at this point is pretty ridiculous. Unless you're just talking about flat out rapping ability and shh!t like that, which is subjective...but if we're just talking about rapping ability there's madd nigs better than both that don't even have albums.
Who are these people better than both with no albums?

Jay studied Big and managed to stay relevant each year…

It worked out for him.

Treat everything like your first project.

Now Jay doesn’t need rap like that.

If Big was alive, he’d be running the business world and charging major figures for a verse

What did he study from Biggie? Biggie only had one album while living that sound like nothing Jay Z ever did before or after

I look at it this way:
- Reasonable Doubt > Ready To Die
- Life After Death > All Jay-Z albums

Tf is this :heh:

You can’t boil down 20 years of music to two albums. Great artists become great artists bc of albums PLUS individual songs, freestyles, battles, verses, moments, etc. Unfortunately, Big was robbed of those opportunities. So even if you believe LAD is better than “all jay albums”, that doesn’t discount Jay z having the opportunity to make individual songs, moments, etc that made an impact well beyond 1 album. And again, same for Nas.

Illmatic > Resdy to die
Life After death > It was Written

So I guess that means Ether never happened :beli:You’re Da Man never happened. Dance never happened. Lost Tapes never happened. Stay never happened. If you REALLY gaf about this shyt, Jay, Nas, Scarface, became your favorite/goat bc they have 20+ years of MOMENTS, individual songs that touched nggas soul pause. Scarface dropped mental excorsism when he was 45 years old. That made me rethink where I rank him. shyt like that.

One man with 2 albums 25 years ago des not get to wipe that away. No sir.

These rappers be trying to get on Hov's good side, for business purposes.

Jay is my dude, but he still hasn't passed B.I.G., to me.

And he never will.

Who are better at just rapping ability period without taking catalog/careers/song making ability/success/impact/shhit like that into consideration? I shouldn’t even have to list names if you understand rapping, you can tell me.

I’d hope people don’t think the dudes on “The Greatest Rappers of All Time” lists are there because they’re the most talented ever at rhyming…because that’s just goofy.
