He fukking died and it was his biggest song lol

had he been alive I doubt the streets would want that to represent them lol

Damn near 30 years ago.

The people still play it crazily today. That's what anthems look like.

They're not always our favorite songs, but it's the one that the actual streets hold up forever. That's what an anthem is. And 30 years after it dropped, that song is a damn mainstay in Brooklyn. They ain't playing "Where I'm From" at Nets games, bro, lol. They play "Juicy" damn near every game and sell B.I.G. jerseys. He's Brooklyn personified. That ain't going nowhere.

Something's very wrong with you.

There have been 293 rappers that have died since then. They ain't as revered as B.I.G..

Or as talented.
He died in midst of the biggest beef in hiphop history. No one on the level of big and pac was murdered prior. That’s historic

he died with one album out

you cant be that dense

Meanwhile, according to CEASE…

And lol @ ‘dumb it down’. So when no one cared about Jay popularity wise, it’s not all about skill then, yall start bringing up sales and point and laugh and constantly bring up that he was a nobody.

But when he became a popular icon and passed everybody, then it’s ’he dumbed down :unimpressed:

Yall hate this ngga and I love it. :heh: Bc it makes it so easy. There is nothing more fun than nggas trying to act like Jay was a complete herb yet the nggas yall respect, his peers, are like nah ngga he different :russ:

Fixed
Jay himself said he dumbed it down, go have that discussion with him

Look how ppl from NYC regard Big L. He's called a legend and not too many ppl outside of NYC ever heard of him at the time of his death.
Legend breh. Is he not? Do you need to know about legends for them to be legends? MF Doom is a legend but not too many people know him or his music.

The thing that I objected to was saying 50 would be seen as the GOAT. That title isn’t given to too many people while living. And it was never 50. He never tried to be the goat rapper. You’d be hard pressed to find someone universally seen as the goat but wasn’t seen as a goat rapper by flow or lyrics

YOU brought up Doggystyle, weirdo!

:what:

It means for actual GOAT's, if you didn't make music on the level of another GOAT, then you ain't better than them. You take any two GOAT's, if one was damn near flawless in output and quality, then he's working at a higher level. Jay made too much wack sh*t, along with his classic sh*t. B.I.G. was reaching heights musically that our guy Hov never touched.
That’s def not how it’s seen. Doggystyle night be one of the greatest albums of all time but not too many people would put snoop on a top mc list

Y’all confusing song making with goat rappers

See that's what I'm talking about right there, I don't remember Big being mentioned as a GOAT when he was alive either. He was good and very popular at the time, but he was also taking an L to 2pac in the beef.

But ok cool, Big L is a rapper that is a legend in NYC. I thought Kevin Kinner was the best basketball player I've ever seen.....in my neighborhood. He was gonna be next until he blew out his knee at BYU (Back Yard University). But everybody knew he was gonna be better than Jordan. He's a South Dallas legend though. But I bet you've never heard of Kevin Kinner.

Calling ppl legends can be a subjective thing.

Biggie way better but he died

I'm not even a fan of either but you'd have to be dumb to even argue... Jay has more songs and changed hip hop history
but he been around 30x as long and is still alive and doing things that eclipse hiphop

Jay copied most of Biggie's style and writing credits with women to even become commercially relevant, and thats after everyone died. It took Jay-z over a decade to even make a song that hit airwaves heavy and multiple up and down CDs. Biggie came out amazing right out the gate and flipped way more styles. Its not even really a comparison style wise... closest Jay got to being raw was spitting player shyt, biggie was spitting player shyt by default and spittin horrorcore, pornocore, death rap shyt etc :russ: and he was making hits out of those songs

One thing about Jay’s music is he refined himself a few times and never really compromised as much for acceptance. That’s why everyone says his shyt is boring. That only happened later on in his return to rap during the Blueprint 3 era. Most wanted club music and anthems and not just rapping about their lives.
