You're a Jay fan, I get it. But you ain't never been objective when it comes to his catalogue.

And like I said, Jay is my guy, but I ain't gonna lie and say he was better than B.I.G.. His best sh*t couldn't see B.I.G.'s best sh*t. It wasn't even close.
wtf do doggystyle being considered the best rap album ever got to do with Jay.

alot of people probably dont think Jay made a album better than Snoop Debut. So that mean Jay cant be better than Snoop?

YOU brought up Doggystyle, weirdo!

:what:

It means for actual GOAT's, if you didn't make music on the level of another GOAT, then you ain't better than them. You take any two GOAT's, if one was damn near flawless in output and quality, then he's working at a higher level. Jay made too much wack sh*t, along with his classic sh*t. B.I.G. was reaching heights musically that our guy Hov never touched.

u the weirdo because you don’t make sense

snoop debut is considered one of the best albums ever if not the goat

many Would think Snoop best is better than Jay best

so according to your logic Jay can’t be better never be better than snoop

Snoop ain't even in the conversation for best MC ever.

So bringing up Snoop in a talk about actual GOAT's, is weird. We ain't talking about a dude who no one would consider two be on Jay's or B.I.G.'s level. Snoop ain't there. So yeah, he had a classic album, but that album doesn't get bro in GOAT talks. There are mad MC's who had classic debuts. Their names shouldn't be thrown in talks about arguably two of the greatest MC's of all-time. So throwing Doggystyle into this talk makes no sense. Nobody give a damn about no Doggystyle.

U moving the goal post

u said jay can’t be better than big because Jay never made a album better than big first 2

i would think majority would say jay never made a album better than snoop debut

and if snoop would have died in 1993

you would be saying the same thing about Jay or alot of other rappers not surpassing Snoop because they didn’t make a better album

That’s a very flawed argument

because many think Doggystyle the greatest album ever

and we see how snoop career played out

I don’t know anybody who thinks Doggystyle is the GOAT album, but okay, lol.

Point is, we're talking lyricists. Jay ain't been on B.I.G. level, ever. And Jay's one of my favorite MC's. But dude wasn't operating on BIG's level. Ready to Die and Life After Death are two masterpieces both created by a dude who hadn't even turned 25 yet. Jay still hasn't made anything that can see those two albums. B.I.G. is the GOAT, bro.

:popcorn::popcorn:

Enjoying this argument/debate.

I love Big, but Jay passed him to me. Not on quality....no Jay album is over LAD. But if RTD and LAD is 5 mics (its wild how we still use the source ratings)...imo blueprint, black album are 5 mics. Then he has some 4.5 (AG) 4s and some super mid/damn near wack. So again Jay wins on body of work due to big dying. Between them up until 97 its Big (I don't care what Cease or Big himself thought lol). Nobody ever sounded as good as him on Victory. But Jay had too much time.

Side note when people ask me what's the great rap album ever...I say either illmatic or Doggystyle. :manny: So its not unheard of for DG to be in that Convo.

As mcs purely between them I've always said

voice Big
cleverness Jay
humor Big
wordplay Jay
charisma Big
flow Big
originality tossup
rhyme schemes Jay
stories Big
delivery Big
live shows Big because of his voice to me.

So overall in a vacuum Big.....but body of work, time I would give it to Jay.

Enjoying y'all debate tho.

Whoa slow down on the snoop disrespect. He is one of the greatest MCs ever

Snoop has one of the greatest smoothest flows of ll time and could rock any beat

Snoop can rock any crowd the definition of a MC

Snoop can flow of the top like no other. He’s one of the greatest mainstream freestylers of all time

Doggystyle classic

Blue carpet treatment, R&G, ego tripping are great albums

I fukk with the game to be sold heavy too

shyt people are sleeping on his run that he has had the past few years too I wanna thank me and bacc on death row was fire too

He has the hit records

There’s level to goats he’s one of them just not in the convo of being THEE goat

The World, but from BK
Tf is this :heh:

You can’t boil down 20 years of music to two albums. Great artists become great artists bc of albums PLUS individual songs, freestyles, battles, verses, moments, etc. Unfortunately, Big was robbed of those opportunities. So even if you believe LAD is better than “all jay albums”, that doesn’t discount Jay z having the opportunity to make individual songs, moments, etc that made an impact well beyond 1 album. And again, same for Nas.

Illmatic > Resdy to die
Life After death > It was Written

So I guess that means Ether never happened :beli:You’re Da Man never happened. Dance never happened. Lost Tapes never happened. Stay never happened. If you REALLY gaf about this shyt, Jay, Nas, Scarface, became your favorite/goat bc they have 20+ years of MOMENTS, individual songs that touched nggas soul pause. Scarface dropped mental excorsism when he was 45 years old. That made me rethink where I rank him. shyt like that.

One man with 2 albums 25 years ago des not get to wipe that away. No sir.
No doubt Jay had the better overall career, but none of his albums are better than Life After Death.

Jay does not have a LAD level master piece.

So NO.

Jay wans't better than BIG when BIG was alive, after BIG died, Jay 'dumb it down', so when did he surpass him?

Meanwhile, according to Big…

And lol @ ‘dumb it down’. So when no one cared about Jay popularity wise, it’s not all about skill then, yall start bringing up sales and point and laugh and constantly bring up that he was a nobody.

But when he became a popular icon and passed everybody, then it’s ’he dumbed down :unimpressed:

Yall hate this ngga and I love it. :heh: Bc it makes it so easy. There is nothing more fun than nggas trying to act like Jay was a complete herb yet the nggas yall respect, his peers, are like nah ngga he different :russ:

Nah, I'm talking about skill and quality.

I'm saying Jay isn't better than B.I.G. because he wasn't able to make the kinda music B.I.G. did at that high of a level because he wasn't as talented as B.I.G. I'm not talking about what "the people" think or who had the whatever debut, etc.

My focus is on the talent. B.I.G. was doper. He could make any kind of song, and make it a classic. It’s also about what you do with the time you have. B.I.G. did more in a couple years, than most of these rappers, including Jay, have done in 30 years.

I appreciate what Snoop's done, but he ain't a GOAT.

You're right. There are levels to this. And after Doggystyle, Snoop had one of Hip Hop's biggest fall-offs of all-time. I was one of the fools who copped The Doggfather the first day it dropped, thinking we were set for another classic. Dude hasn't been able to drop anything even close to his debut ever. In 31 years.

Snoop is a legend, but he also doesn't write all his sh*t. So he's never been up there on the level of the Jay's, B.I.G.'s, Cube's, Rakim's, KRS's, etc. He's had a lot of hits, but he's not on the level of the people we speak on when we talk GOAT's.
