I'm halfway through and this dude was WILD
beating broads, dipping out and hiding kids, aborting childbirths, full mink coats, fukkin up his people's albums, kept the hammer on him at all times
Meanwhile his image was "conscious" "soulquarians"
He was really living the life these wannabe thug and gangsta rappers rhyme about
But that's usually the case. Peep Jada going to private school and shyt.
Anyway I wonder if the doc based on this book is gonna go into all this other dark shyt?
Surprised cancel culture hasn't caught up or even the "separate the man and the art" convo

But then I went back and listened to Labcabin and Welcome to Detroit this past weekend
Brilliant, no question
The book itself is throughly researched and the narrative flows
For not being a tell all type, it sure has a lot of "oh shyt" moments

Unless I missed something, egon was making sure ma dukes was getting paid, to the patient he was paying double. The shoes track on the one jawn pissed off ma dukes, but that was made with Dilla, so it would have been incomplete without it. Egon did dikkhead shyt with doom and lib, but didn’t seem like it was done in this instance.
Indeed but I didn't like he was trying to push for a jaylib 2 album knowing Dilla was sick asf.

i mean. the nikka dilla was trying his hardest to act like shyt was sweet. dude hopped on aplane to brazil....

dr in brazil was like "breh :dahell: "
dilla like ":russell:where my weed bro"

dilla had a lot of people not even knowing the severity of the shyt.

This is true but because they were out with turbans and down with Dilla/Soulquarians it was an association thing

incredible book. damn near finished it in two days.

obviously, when he gets sick it gets hard to read. i had to put it down.

maybe he would have had a chance to pull through if he wasn't so stubborn with his health.

or maybe he knew it was his time and said fukk it...i'm going out how i want to.

a lot of sad moments, but a ton of insightful and funny moments too. like hi tek being so nervous to give dilla a beat cd he drove two hours in the wrong direction :mjlol:

or how it was a pet peeve of his for people to show up at his spot unexpectedly. "maaaaaaaaan don't just show up to another man's house like that!" :heh:
