YES!! They were very close. I found this out from his uncle Herm. I was in Atlanta at a show and I was talking to her and I swear to God he told me, "you remind me of Proof". He said his nephew was quiet and Proof was the loud playful type. This was prior to youtube being the standard for finding old music and I had no idea they were close. They actually did an EP together. It's crazy that all of those guys in detroit was in the same circe, but we never saw D12 collaborate with Dilla or black milk and Elzhi. But Royce has worked with them all.Amazing book so far, I'm not done yet but am I hearing correctly. Did J Dilla and Proof hang together.
I love that this book went to the history of the drum machine and how dilla made his sound more human like.
They def have an unreleased track or two with Dilla production. Dilla was tight with Proof and Porter. Milk used to go on tour with them d12/has worked with unofficially as well. Dillla and Proof passing really killed a lot of momentum with the collabs.YES!! They were very close. I found this out from his uncle Herm.
