Why nikkas acting like Cole singing on his hooks, bridges and choruses is something he just started doing recently?

The Warm Up had Can I Live, I Get up, Dreams.. Cost Me A lot on FNL etc. :gucci:
It's the autotune and lil baby/future flows that ruin them for me. It sounds like he's copying the new kids.

Few thoughts after a few listens

- My heart dropped hearing Camron vocals first on the album. Def threw a curve ball. Most assumed we were getting platinum with no features Cole. Making them hidden was quite intriguing and put me on the edge on the first listen. Felt like we were going to get a Dot or Drizzy feature.

-21 gave a stellar verse. An unlikely duo going 2/2. Seems like Cole really gets the best out of him. This was a great successor to “a lot”

-applying pressure is probably the best beat Cole produced and kept for himself. He went in and I could’ve used another verse.

-pride is the devil is the most commercial friendly radio record. Beautiful track and lil baby delivered like he been doing

-the use of Dame quote on punch the clock was so spot on. That was one of the most noteworthy post game commentary we have heard from a pro athlete in sometime. Inspiring. Track is a banger

- the climb back is a top 5 Cole track. Up there with False Prophets and 4 Your Eyez Only

-this is one of the most enjoyable first spins in quite sometime. I haven’t felt this way about a Cole project since FNL.

@AMcV'88 tell me I'm lying

Why does J Cole do this thing where instead of rewriting the verse, he crams unnecessary lyrics and syllables into the verse?

Its like he can't be witty enough so he just follows through with the original though to prove he can make it work, and he doesn't.

See what Lil Baby did makes it looks like he defied physics. Lil baby can fit more in a bar, by saying less, and does it even faster. Its literally more bandwidth.

J Cole thinks he has the bandwidth and content but has neither so it comes off as pretentious

Bro I really thought he was gonna drop a classic

he really said “shells everywhere we made the Easter bunny proud” “you don’t want it one on one shoutout to kyla Pratt” the album was full of terrible bars

His flow was on point but there was nothing on here that makes me want to listen to it again

if Amari, Close or Hunger on Hillside don’t catch you, it ain’t for you

Everywhere...You never there.
Close but no (classic) cigar again for Cole. Super high quality , much appreciated effort , incredible craftsmanship but it’s still missing something . I think it’s the cohesion that’s missing . Cole , even in his mid 30s , could benefit from a legendary executive producer and/or project oversight specialist .

I don’t understand the love for 21s verse . Same shyt he’s pretty much ALWAYS said but he’s showing a little growth .

But I think y’all really, really need to sit with “Punching the Clock” ... so incredibly powerful on a spiritual level . Might be one of the best tracks he’s recorded from a content standpoint and it’s not even 2 minutes .

It’s so multi-layered and multi-tiered in such a deep, visceral spiritual sense that if he named one industry name in that song, he might would get blackballed. He was really operating on a different plane on that song .

Otherwise he’s definitely talking his shyt . He’s rapping like rapping, rapping on some mid 90s 9 minute long posse cut type shyt :wow:

@Gator Reloaded I see where he’s invoking some of the “newer” stylings but he doesn’t OD. It’s tactful and age appropriate. :manny:

Cole is definitely a legend in this rap game and he cemented it with this . Still doesn’t have his UNANIMOUS classic album yet .
