As a old Millennial born in 82 who raised 2 Gen z kids of my own (one about to be 20 and the other 17) and a shyt load of them via my basketball program. I could tell you first hand that we are very much different.

I think god everyday I took my kids outside without technology when they were young. I really didn’t know what I was doing but I said we are going outside until y’all get tired:mjlol:

Nah Millennials are much different we were the last generation that knew what it was like before the internet. We understand the importance of being social in extroverted settings. Honestly me and my homie were talking about this but if millennials were smart they would invest in thing that help the generations after connect in real world settings. Because I see that being an issue once this metaverse shyt gets poppin.

That metaverse shyt about to be like .hack//sign, Sword Art Online, and Ghost In The Shell. Be tryna tell ppl certain anime be tryna get you hip to what be taking place behind the scene :wow:

I get his point, but he's wrong. Millennials remember life before the internet and (ubiquitous) cell phones. That's a big difference. Gen Z only had it one way; we get tiktok, but also memorizing 30 phone numbers and showing up at friends' houses unannounced. We know how to use Google Maps on our phone, but also remember holding up Rand McNally maps on family vacations in the dark trying to figure out where the damn hotel is in 1995.
i don't know what it is about the word Millennial that made it catch on and have people butchering its demographic for YEARS.

It's annoying

The oldest of the millennials are 40 FUKKING YEARS OLD NOW ( the millennium was 22 years ago:gucci:)

people need to stop using them and that term as the barometer for youth and/or their disdain of it.
We will be the generation they talk about for centuries so we have to fall on the sword.:yeshrug:

:mjgrin:Printing out the map and the directions before every trip to a place ive never been.

Then a road be closed and you like “oh shyt”.

My wife still be talking shyt because she remembers when I would pick her up for a date with printed directions. But her hating ass didn’t know how to get to the spot either.

These folks don’t know nothing about hiding a card in the card catalog so nobody else could find that book you wanted to check out.

Bro...I ready for a debate or someone to school me...
Cause they are making up shyt...

I've never heard "millennial" until the last 5yrs or so... No one was using that.

Anyone that was born in the 80s or was like a teen or young teen in 90s was supposedly "generation X"...
Back then that was the only term u heard.
And I guess it meant the group that is moving the culture and consuming products at that time.

People have called me a "millennial" and i almost punched them in the face.
Millennials and gen Z is the same thing... Or close to it. The muthafukaz who need a cell phone and grew up with computers.

I've seen studies and people in these comments lumping 80's babies and 90s babies in one group.

:stopitslime: like that's fukking impossible.

But I think it's a culture thing.
The people who make these names don't know the things that impact black people and what makes a black 80s baby, different from a black 90s baby.

They go by what was going on in "their world"...
And try to make it fit for everybody

This. Look at the dude below for example.

Dude said he was a millennial but didn’t have reliable access to the internet until his freshman year of college. :wtf:
I was born in 94 and remember being on the internet back in 2001 and finding out Aaliyah died. I was 6 years old back then. There should be a distinction between early Millennials and late Millennials.

Facts...
Yeah because there is no early millennials.
Those aren't millennials

I was born in 81. They still debate about what generation I was even born in. I’m either youngest of Gen X or the oldest Millennial. Either way I can remember Atari and when hip hop was still being called a fad. I can remember when my pops and his boys all looked like members of Kool and the Gang. I ain’t got nothing in common with Generation Z
:heh:

I actually consider very late millennials and early gen z to be the same sub category (so anyone born between 1993 and 1999) they not core zoomers but they're different than true millennials.
