Everything became inherently different around 2008-2010, basically the internet and social media began to take over. Smartphones weren’t really mass market thing till 2011.

I’d say that that was the start of a “new generation” after millennials.

in another 10-15 years when globalization and batteries take over the kids now will be grown debating the same.
and quite frankly that might be another cut off point for gen z vs whatever is next, but there is something drastically different about your brain development if you grew up learning how to read with a physical book than on an ipad.

pop music/culture is not a good way to evaluate cohorts :mjlol:

period and the people in here contrarianing and agreeing with that blog post are trippin too.

I get his point, but he's wrong. Millennials remember life before the internet and (ubiquitous) cell phones. That's a big difference. Gen Z only had it one way; we get tiktok, but also memorizing 30 phone numbers and showing up at friends' houses unannounced. We know how to use Google Maps on our phone, but also remember holding up Rand McNally maps on family vacations in the dark trying to figure out where the damn hotel is in 1995.

Facts.

In the UK we have something called the A to Z(ed) where it was all printed roads in the UK and I used to study that shyt.

So I use Apple Maps like that now, I don’t even plan my route just look at the map then say left here, right there, 3rd exit. It’s just ingrained in me.

Pretty much, millennials are the middle children of history. looked down on by both boomers and Gen-X, helped by neither, so just a bunch of wandering tech junkies. Gen-Z's are millennials at the finish line, all that tech and they can't even form a structured sentence. Any millennials that deny this, are lying....from AOL to Yahoo messenger, two way pagers, etc, they ate up the tech. I would argue that Gen-Z's are for more useless in the context of actually growing relationships and communication beyond text.

No we’re not and I wanna smack the shyt outta the person who wrote that asinine piece :mjlol:

I grew up on Lil Wayne, Lil Jon, T-Pain, Ciara, Chris Brown, Musiq Soulchild, Jill Scott, Ludacris, Jeezy, Gucci, Lupe Fiasco, pre-MAGA Kanye, etc. That whole Neo Soul, Crunk, CrunknB, Snap, Ringtone Rap, Blog Rap, and that whole Lex Luger/Jahlil Beats/Young Chop Trap/Chicago Drill music era defined my generation’s come up.

For the Zoomers, it’s somewhat different despite some spillover and said spillover transforming into something else to fit their tastes.

Plus my generation was still going outside throughout much of the 90’s and 2000’s :yeshrug: All while seeing the arrival of XBox and us being the target demographic of the GOAT console in video games, the legendary PS2 :banderas: But yeah, we BEEN outside lmao

Plus much of Gen Z had a smartphone as their first phone. When I was 16 (2008), half the kids in my school either had Blackberrys or still had regular mobile phones (some even still had a flip phone). Burning CDs on to a portable disc player or on an iPod (not all of us had money for all them damn iTunes cards) is an ancient lost art to Gen Z lol

On top of that, half of Gen Y is damn near 40 with the youngest probably turning 26 this year. I just love how some of y’all think Millennials are still the kids of yesteryear like it’s 2004 :russ:

Nah Millennials are much different we were the last generation that knew what it was like before the internet. We understand the importance of being social in extroverted settings. Honestly me and my homie were talking about this but if millennials were smart they would invest in thing that help the generations after connect in real world settings. Because I see that being an issue once this metaverse shyt gets poppin.

The thing is with millennials is if all this internet shyt cut off we'll be like :manny:

Some definitely more addicted than others but on the whole I feel like we got a distinction between being on and offline. To younger folks the internet and all this digital shyt is the real world
