Some companies have weird rules where if a job isn't filled internally in a certain amount of time then they have to post it outside the company. They will just post the job then continue their search internally. You will literally see the same job posted over and over and over on monster.com but they have no intention of hiring someone from outside the company.
last 2 companies I have worked for work that way. 3 weeks of internal candidates, then go out and look for candidates if nobody in the company is selected.

Its bullshyt, just strengthens my position that its all connections at the end of the day. Someone with a straight 4.0, IQ of 160 does not even have an opportunity with the company if someone internally jumps on it :snoop:

Yup.

Also if a person is referred by someone who works for the company, if that employee has enough pull, they won't even consider anybody else. They'll go through interviews just to say they did it, but the person who was referred was gonna get it the whole time. Work on that network people :wow:

Should they have to stress this if a career after college is the ultimate goal? If you re-read your sentence you will see this is due to YOUR misinformation/lack there of/or ignorance of what that department is there for. If the goal of going to college is to get a job and make money when you graduate shouldnt the Career Development Office be on your mind from the day you walk into that institution. They are there to help place you in jobs and internships while you are under their roof. If you fail to do so by not utilizing the resources available to you it isnt anyones fault but your own.

not me breh i had an internship :leostare: i am talking for the majority of people. i didnt go to a big school i want to a small state school. and just from what i heard from those who went to bigger schools or tougher schools they required and strongly recommended an internship. and in all honestly my schools career development wasnt shieet (just saying). I went and found an internship on my own. but alot of people were told if you go to college and absorb information you should be good ( i was even told this). and as we all know its much more than that.

fukk a network. I refuse to let someone else get a job for me. I have always got a job off applying. I want you to ant me for my skill not for who vouched for me and me knowing who you know. Thats why so many people are in jobs that they are not qualified for and why people in Burger King work slower than a turtle in a hot tub. They feel because someone got them the job their content and dont have to do shyt. Thats why the shyt hit the fan. Because all that overlooking backfired. All the people that worked hard are at successful companies while all the people who networked and hardly had qualifications fukk up those companies. But this is why I dont want to have a job. I dont want to be under anyone fukk that shyt. That plays right into that slave mentality. Working for someone your whole life then when you get laid off youre like :wtf: like because you were hired so long you had tenure. Nah nikka not here. Unless youre a unionized worker your job is always on the line. And even unionized workers lose their jobs. fukk having a job i want a career.

How you gonna ROFL with a hollow back?
I can respect that alot of y'all are proud, but you have to learn how to play the game, or you gonna have one of those fake ass "I do it for the love" jobs that don't pay shyt. You have to provide for your families, and you you don't have to give up your integrity at all by playing the system a little bit. You know how many people I have seen fake it till they make it?

Company I work for send out the vacancies internally first as they would rather the employees recommend someone for the positions and hit them off with some chump change than pay a recruitment agency big money to find someone. If employees cant find anyone suitable, then the job spec goes out externally to recruitment agents as a last resort.

The last company I worked for did this as well....
